Yesterday's Condo

I know it's really late and it's probable no one will see this today, but thought I would go ahead and post, anyway. So many were kind enough to continue posting on yesterday's condo, I felt I owed an update, regardless of how late.

I'm sure no one will be surprised to learn that last night's PJ party resulted in a BOUNCE today. However, I was really pleased with that, as I knew we'd be gone a long time and I wouldn't have to worry about Cinco. He seems to be clearing it nicely. Such a good boy! :-D I just hope he's not planning another dive tonight, as I REALLY need some sleep. I think, in the past three nights combined I've maybe gotten 10 hours!

We were gone for almost 12 hours today. That wasn't the plan, but they do a really poor job of traffic management at the Sonoma Raceway, and although we only live about 35 miles away, it took us 3.5 hours to get home after the race! :o cat(2)_steam I was so worried about Sasha -not so much about Cinco, since I knew he was bouncing. I gave her the bupe right before we left, and she was due for her next dose in 8 hours, so 12 hours was a bit too long. She did not seem to be in pain when we got home. She was comfortably ensconced in her bed in the cage, with the tank top OFF! :o  :YMSIGH: The incision, however, appeared to be undisturbed. Later in the evening I saw her trying to scratch her neck, and since the stitches go that high, I was concerned. I removed her tank top and replaced it with a t-shirt that has a higher collar. If I find that the sleeve is affecting her ability to get around, I'll cut it off, but right now she really isn't trying to walk much at all. We brought her out of the cage and set her on the floor between us, and she just sort of collapsed into a little bundle. She seemed quite comfortable there, and not at all interested in moving. She hasn't peed since yesterday, and hasn't gone poo since she's been home. I'm hoping the miralax (1/8 tsp 2x a day) will help the latter. The former should take care of itself, as I add water to her moist food, and I keep putting her favorite bowl under nose and inducing her to take a few laps of water. This is very slow going.

Much as I love my NASCAR weekend, I'm glad it's over with and I can concentrate on my kitties (except when I'm trying to complete several tasks before my surgery that will be difficult when I am on crutches). We're going to take it slow with Sasha, as she needs to heal, but we don't want her remaining legs to become weak from lack of use, so we're trying to get her to stand and maybe walk a step or two, a couple of times a day. She does not seem interested in this process.

I've rambled on enough for one night. I should be able to do a "normal" condo tomorrow. I wanted to visit some of you tonight, but I'm so tired I can't see straight. It took me FOREVER to type this!

Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG: THANK YOU to all for the support!!!!

First of all, :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

You have been through a lot lately. I hope you get some sleep tonight.

As you mentioned before, the bupe can be constipating and so can anesthesia by the way. I hope the t-shirt works. That is what my friend found best after her cat's surgery for lung cancer. Hopefully each day will get a little easier for Sasha. They are so resilient. Another friend had a cat that had a leg amputated and he jumped around like he had 4 legs. I didn't know her back then but I've heard many stories.

Re: 6/22 Cinco PMPS 223 +3 126 +6 75

I didn't really think I was going to get to sleep tonight, did I?? I probably should have tested him at +5 when he was being extra talkative, but I was busy with Sasha....

I heard unidentifiable noises over the baby monitor (set up in our room to keep track of Minka's coughing) and went up to check it out. I found Sasha, 3/4 of the way out of her t-shirt (wrapped around her back legs), on her bed. The shirt was damp. There was a pee pile in the litter box (yay!). The incision appeared to be undisturbed. I removed the t-shirt and put her soft collar back on her, tying it still more tightly than before. The t-shirt is in the washer. I'm just not sure where to go from here if she gets out of the collar again. I'm considering officially changing her name to Houdini. :YMSIGH:

Fed Cinco some LC and will test again in an hour before I head up to bed (maybe). Brain function is minimal at this point. Please surf for Mama, Cinco. Please?

Yay for pee!! Hopefully poo will follow soon. It's amazing how smart these kitties are....little Houdini Sasha there. Thankfully she hasn't messed with her incision, despite all her escapes and attempted escapes. Hopefully her recovery will start picking up the pace...it does seem that once they cross a hurdle, the healing speeds up, so we're sending prayers that Sasha turns that corner shortly! I agree that encouraging her to walk a bit here and there is a good idea...not only to maintain her strength, but to build up her confidence. Before you know it, she'll be jumping and playing like Jupiter!

I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy NASCAR the way you usually, do, but I'm sure you must be relieved that now you can focus on the kitties. Just being able to be with them - helicoptoring or not - is just a huge stress-reliever. I hope you're able to get in som R&R while caring for the furbabies. Be sure to take care of yourself, too, Tricia!!

I'm glad Sasha peed last night. I hope the poo comes soon. Even though it is frustrating she keeps getting everything off, I think that is a good sign. It means she's being feisty and has the energy to work things off. Sending prayers for Sasha and hugs to you. :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

I hope Cinco will be a good boy tonight and let you get some sleep.
