I think I might have gone overboard with the carbs last night. I wonder if doing that helps trigger a bounce as much as the cat's body's reaction to the low numbers. He still started meowing at 5:30, grrr.

Vines to all in need both humans and kitties. I hope things get easier quickly for Tricia as she soon will have to recover from surgery while dealing with Sasha's recovery and Cinco and the gang.

I'm also wondering what the advisors will do with Peyton who is on such a small dose and drops below 50 yet isn't green at preshot to begin his trial. Maybe that will happen today. If not I wonder if you give it a go anyhow??

Have a great beginning of the week everyone.

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 104

Max is looking fantastic!!!! You must be thrilled!!!

I don't think HC foods can trigger a bounce. I think I posted in our condo that I "speculate" that if you push the numbers up a bit with HC food, then the bounce, when it starts, will start from a higher number and I also wonder if feeding the HC food causes the insulin duration to slightly decrease. I have no concrete answers....just speculation.

I posted this morning that I think Julie will have to stop the insulin as long as she doesn't get a high blue or higher PS.

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 106+1=135+2=125

Yes, Marje,I am thrilled. I am expecting a bounce today and won't get discouraged. I'm hoping that if he goes under 50 for the third time he will start to hold reductions. I think that will be the next big hurdle. Maybe if I can prevent it long enough for him to stay between 50-150 for as long as possible he will be able to get down to taking less insulin and staying in safe numbers. That is my hope anyhow.

I don't want to jinx myself but is it possible he will regulate???

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 106+1=130+2=125+3=94

Another active cycle. Yea! I just fed him some tj's mc 10%. I guess I better check in 30 this time. I'm glad I elected not to go to spin class this morning. He's strangely not as hungry this morning. I've had to put fd or S&C on top of his food. I think he is eating and hopefully not just picking out the fd.

Way to go Max! It looks like Mr. Liver has stopped protesting about normal numbers! (anti-jinx)

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 106+1=130+2=125+3=94+3.5=75+4=64/68

I'm cautiously optimistic. OMG it's 11:42 and I haven't even gotten dressed. Thanks, Jen. Time for you to add a condo unless you have done so since my last check.

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 106+1=130+2=125+3=94+3.5=75+4=64/68

looking good! i think the yellows on 6/21 and 6/22 (yesterday's) blues during the day look like the bounce numbers from the low morning on 6/21.

i don't want to jinx anything by saying anything positive, other than Max looks good. I'm not seeing a bounce coming at this point. antijinx and mr greenie is very happy to be spending so much time with Max.

i'd continue to try to keep him from getting another reduction, for just a little while longer. please max!?

Re: 6/23 Max AMPS 106+1=130+2=125+3=94+3.5=75+4=64/68

I'm trying, Julie. Should I stop feeding any more now or switch to lc for another hour? Should I continue to test every half hour until he gets over, say, 70? That would be great if he bounces with blues and/or low yellows. Of course I will get what I get, .

Update: I split the difference and tested after 45. I'll wait an hour or so now as he is at 83 and not more food until tonight unless he dips again which is unlikely with the mc food.

oh, Max, you are certainly looking spiffy and clean in those beautiful greens!

Do I think he can get regulated? I think he already is.

From the felinediabetes.com FAQs:

There are different definitions of regulation. As hometesting becomes more common, we've been getting a better understanding of what cats and their humans might be capable of. Janet & Fitzgerald propose the following "regulation continuum":

Not treated [blood glucose typically above 300 mg/dl (16.7 mmol/L), poor clinical signs]
Treated but not regulated [often above 300 (16.7) and rarely near 100 (5.6), poor clinical signs]
Regulated [generally below 300 (16.7) with glucose nadir near 100 (5.6), good clinical signs, no hypoglycemia]
Well regulated [generally below 200-250 (11.1-13.9) and often near 100 (5.6), no hypoglycemia]
Tightly regulated [generally below 150 (8.3) and usually in the 60-120 (3.3-6.7) range, no hypoglycemia, still receiving insulin]
Normalized [60-120 (3.3-6.7) except perhaps directly after meals -- usually not receiving insulin]

Next stop: tightly regulated :-D :-D :-D
