Last Night:
225 PMPS
310 +3
285 +6.5
364 +11.25

I gave J.D. some cypro last night, because he didn't munch out when we got home from work, the way he usually does, and he didn't eat much at work which is normal for him. He did eat okay last night, and I left out about 3/4 can of FF when I went to bed and woke up at +11 to clean plates and a hungry cat. I tested at +11.25 and gave him some freeze dried chicken breast. He tried to poo but only a little bit came out, so we went for a walk.
I seem to constantly be adjusting? the poo. Friday morning before I left for work, he had a poo with lots of watery poo, so I gave him 2 tiny pills of Flagyl. That stopped him right up as it always does and I think he has pooed maybe once a day since. He was pooing twice a day recently and his poos were getting softer and softer and FortiFlora didn't seem to help. What do other people use to firm up the poo when it's a little too soft? My vet told me I could use Flagyl as needed, and it works. Maybe I should try to see if he'll eat squash again :?

J.D. seems to be getting around easier and seems more comfortable.

Wishing everyone a good day, and sending vines to everyone who needs some.

Sorry J.D.'s poo has been off lately. I hope he has a normal poo soon. I give Furball pumpkin mixed in her food for a couple of days when she has soft poo.

Hi Dyana,
Sending lots of perfect poo vines for J.D.

Sometimes I give Lucy FortiFlora when her poop is soft, and I usually need to give 2 - 3 days before I see improvement.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Babyfood squash seems to help them go regularly, but I didn't think it helps firm poops up much.
Canned pumpkin works well for Ginger, but the interesting thing I discovered is that her poops gets softer on one brand (more expensive organic), and gets firmer on another (cheap super-market brand).
I think this is due to the difference in the amount/texture of the fiber?
When I started adding new diet for Lucy, which has quite a bit of amount of sweet potato, her poops improved a lot, in shape, texture and even smell.
So maybe, you can perhaps try different kinds/brands of pumpkin/squash/sweet potato to see if any of them works better for J.D.

Thanks Mariko. I just hope he will eat the pumpkin. I only bought it once when I was in California and had to buy a pretty big can of pumpkin. How do you store the unused portion?
I don't know if he would eat it. He's so fussy sometimes.

I hope he is going down slowly today and not diving down. I would like to see him slowly going down and be in the yellows at PMPS and then go slowly into the blues during the night. Wishful.

Re: 06/30 J.D. AMPS 365, +1 481

Dyana,
When I open a can, I put everything I will not use in the next 3 days in an ice cube tray, and freeze them.
Once frozen, I put them in a ziplock bag to store, and defrost one or two cubes at a time as needed.
So one can lasts quite a log time because I don't give it to them every day.

Hi Dyana:

I give Cinco babyfood squash - about 1/2 tsp in his food every morning, and since I started that he went from a dry poo every three or four days to an almost perfect poo every other day. He gets a little forti flora sprinkled on his food, but that's just because he likes it and it makes him eat whatever I serve! ;-)

You said that two little pills of Flagyl stop J.D. up. Can you try just giving him one pill?

Sending good appy and good poo vines for J.D. I hope you find the right combination for him.

Yes. Two pills stops him up. The vet suggested last time trying one pill. I will try that next time.
Right now, I think he has to go, so I'll take him out for a walk.

So much for wishful thinking on the BGs.

I store the pumpkin in the refrigerator while I'm giving it to Furball. Then I mix the rest of it with spice cake mix and water and make pumpkin cookies. I don't leave it in the fridge for more than a week.

oh, so sorry to see that J.D. does not have the nice bg's as days gone by. Spot used to like pumpkin, now he doesn't. Doesn't like squash, doesn't like sweet potatoes. No problems with runny poo....but he does have poo problems.
