Tiger's appetite was pretty off and on these past few days. I didn't feel comfortable giving the full 3.o dose, so I gave her 1.5. This AM, she looked a little better, but she also coughed up a hairball and that always takes something out of her. So, I chose to give 2.5units, and I'm watching her closely, although it was nice to be able to go and have coffee with the neighbors. She's peed and pooped, but very sleepy. Maybe she will want to go outside later today, I need to go and test her one more time before lunch. I will, of course be watching to up her dose as soon as I feel confident that she will eat normally. And I am looking into new foods, given her kidney situation; Wellness looks like a good candidate, although she will take it mixed with DM, she hasn't been eager to stick her nose in the can. Thanks for all the suggestions in our last post!

Sending healing vines to all kitties that need them, and continued congrats to the OTJ kitties. I must say, since we have only been here a little over 2 months, it is encouraging to see how many kitties are eventually able to go OTJ!

Hi Ruth:

I'm glad Tiger's appy is improving. It's so worrying when they won't eat.

Have you ever given Tiger Forti Flora? Some cats don't care for it (two of mine), and some cats LOVE it (the other two). I call it kitty krak, because if I sprinkle it on food, Cinco and Sasha will inhale the whole thing and lick the plate. If you're not familiar with it, it's a probiotic for cats. Some vets sell it, or you can order it online (use the Amazon link on this website, and FDMB gets $). It's a little pricey, but it's totally worth it. I also give it to any of my kitties that are on antibiotics to help keep the healthy bacteria in their guts going. For the ones that don't like it, I put it in gelcaps. Just something you can try when the appy isn't good.

BTW, Ann (of Ann & Tess), has a chart of LC/low Phos foods on her SS. Just look at the tabs across the top and you'll see it. It's a very handy one page guide you can print and take shopping.

Sending lots of good appy vines, and healing vines for Tiger's kidneys.

Adding on some happy appy vines. Buster used to eat Wellness turkey and chicken flavors exclusively and then one day....not  Hope Tiger finds something good for her body and happy for her tongue!

Trix isn't a fan of Wellness either. She also has kidney issues...it is definitely difficult balancing diabetes and kidney stuff. And on top of that, Trix has some psychological issues connected with eating since she had a bad case of pancreatitis in April. So, we feed her what she will eat, which is Fancy Feast and Purina One, but we use a binder to help with lowering the phosphorous. So, while it is not as ideal as feeding food that is already low in phosphorous, using a binder is an option, 'cause sometimes you just have to do what the kitty demands, and it's better to have them eating than not!

I hope Tiger's appy has picked up!!

Seems like a lot of our kitties are off their feed lately!

I had to give China a crumb of Cyproheptadine tonight (a crumb makes her ravounous!)

Good luck at finding a combo of food that Tiger will eat and is easy on the kidneys
