Thought I should post an update so you all would know we're still here. The past few days have been very busy and hectic for me, and Cinco has been most cooperative by staying in safe numbers. I know I should be considering a dosecrease right now, but we're going away this weekend, and our catsitter will not be able to monitor him during the day on Saturday as she has to work her regular job. So my question is, should we have her shoot the 1.25 we are currently shooting, or should be be extra cautious and have her shoot 1.0? Cinco is otherwise doing well. His appy is slightly better, but still a little below normal - I still blame summer. We have had some very nice bonding moments in the past couple of days, when I apologized to him for being so busy elsewhere and he allowed me to brush and scritch him. Cinco is not an affectionate cat and isn't into lots of attention, so when he is receptive to it, I really appreciate it.
Sasha is still having the carrier anxiety issues - throwing up as we pull out of the driveway. She wasn't eating much, so yesterday they gave her an appetite stimulant, and she ate the full 3 oz can I sent, plus half a can of the food they have (they call it AB). Then last night when I offered her dinner, she ate about 2/3 her normal amount. I was delighted. Mark dropped her off this morning on his way to work, and when I picked her up, the doctor wanted to talk. She said they are concerned about the nausea and inappetance, so we are going to be giving her 4mg of Cerenia each morning, 2 hours before we leave for UCD. We are also putting her back on Pred - 1/2 tablet every day. Oh! She just came down and rubbed against my leg, so I picked her up and she's curled up in my lap, purring. It doesn't get better than this!
I went to the doctor appointment yesterday (one with a primary care doctor that isn't mine) and was told that only a rheumatologist can give cortisone shots in the fingers. I sat in her office and cried. I'm not a crier, generally, but I've had so little sleep, so much stress, and so much pain lately that it was just too much. She tried to find someone in the facility that could help me, but failed. Today when I saw my podiatrist, I told him about my experience, and he went to talk to a hand surgeon. The hand surgeon said he didn't want to give me an injection, as he was unfamiliar with my history, etc. (he could have looked it up on the computer). My podiatrist told me he had two recommendations for me. 1. I should go to the rheumatology department and tell them I wasn't leaving until I got my injections. He said that it was Kaiser policy that if a patient showed up and was willing to wait, he/she must be seen. 2. I could go to Member Services and ask them to help me. Since rheumatology was in another facility and it was late in the day, I went to Member Services. The lady there called the rheumatology department and talked them into squeezing me in tomorrow right before lunch. So at least I can go to LA without all this pain in my hands. It has taken me almost two hours to type this. I already loved my podiatrist, but now I love him even more. He was scheduled for surgery right after my appointment, but he took time to try to help me.
BTW, I go back in a week for x-rays to see if they can take the wire out of my toe, which would allow me to put weight on the foot again.
I have a zillion things to do before we leave tomorrow. I will try to post tomorrow if I can, but will not be posting a condo again until Tuesday, since I won't be home, but I may be reading them. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Sending healing vines to all in need, and hugs to all their beans. :YMHUG:
