Recap of yesterday's #s:

AMPS 118, 1.25f, 40g Evo 95% C&T
+1 - 37g Evo 95% C&T, Cosequin
+2 68
PMPS 138, 1.25f, 40g Evo 95% C&T, Zobaline
+1 - 37g Evo 95% C&T, Cosequin

WCR: AMPS weight=10.73 lbs. All is well with Blackie, other than the stiffness in her joints. My husband took a recording on my cell of her walking last night (I'm somewhat technologically challenged), so I have that to show the vet. I have a small list of drugs to discuss with her, and going to be asking her opinion on a natural homeopathic pain medication to use. Will also be taking along the current supplements that I use on Blackie, and will be asking what the drawbacks are for increasing the Cosequin (per the label). I'd rather try to use something that won't harm her, or with the least amount of side effects. Appointment's at 9.

Sending tons of healing vines, positive thoughts and prayers to whoever needs them.

MY WISH: For God to help heal the broken hearts of those who lost a beloved pet and/or human... For God to help those ailing make a full and speedy recovery... For everyone, including Blackie, to have great #s... For everyone, including Blackie, to be OTJ.

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

do you have an update for us from the vet? i see the subject line but maybe i'm missing the update. :-D

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

Back from the vet's. I showed her the video of Blackie from last night, and she agreed that she's stoved up. She recommended laser treatment, which can last anywhere from 24 hours to a week, or Tramadol (5 day treatment applied twice a day inside the ear), which was used when Blackie was coming out of surgery for her lump. The vet is against using Metacam, and I shook my head on that stuff, too. I told her that it had been blackboxed (from what I've read anyway). So, for now, the vet recommends upping the glucosamine/chondroitin to 3x/day (2 a.m., 1 p.m.) for a bit and see if that helps. Also, to look into massage therapy to help. If those don't help, then she wants me to try the Tramadol on her. She doesn't want to give anything else for her due to the potential of raising her #s. I'll keep you posted.

I love this vet!

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

I'm glad you found a great vet! Buster has joint issues, so we're trying Cosequin, Adequan and Hyaflex (hyaluronic acid). I am also taking him in for acupuncture sessions once a week. I think he's getting better, but his arthritis is pretty mild so it's kind of hard to tell. My goal is to get him to stop licking his elbows. I hope you can find some relief for Blackie.

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

Glad to hear you got some answers and that you've got some options. Hope you find the right treatment so that Blackie is back to her happy self.

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

It sounds like you have some good options. I hope you can find something that works for Blackie.

Re: Back From Vet, Update; 07/24 Blackie AMPS 122

It's good that you have so much confidence in your vet. That is so important when dealing with chronic issues. It sounds like you have a plan, including a back up, so perhaps you can get Blackie back to feeling well soon.

Sending lots of healing vines .

*Typed with a cat on my lap and her head on my arm, so a little brief but hopefully to the point! :-D

PMPS 180, 1.50u, 40g Evo 95% C&T, Zobaline
+1 - 37g Evo 95% C&T, Cosequin

Unfortunately, and after talking with my husband last night, both options are not financially doable in the near or foreseeable future. I need to find something else for her. Right now, she's been started on 3 capsules of the glucosamine/chondroitin; 2 +1 and +2 in the a.m. and 1 +2 in the p.m. I really hope that giving her another glucosamine capsule helps her. I need to find an alternative, safe, and easily affordable medication for her. Hopefully something homeopathic.

If ANYONE out there has any suggestions, please let me know. I want her walking better, and the sooner, the better.
