Hi All,

The visiting vet came and was really, really helpful. She was supportive of our decision to treat at home, and really sweet and gentle with Prince. She explained that due to there being issues with the liver, kidneys, and pancreas, and that he hates the vet so much, it makes sense to treat and make him comfortable at home. This will not "fix" or "cure" him, but that was not completely possible at the hospital either. Basically she gave us a new pain med to try and we are overnighting new versions of the medications he is on now from a compounding pharmacy in NJ so that they can all be given transdermally (rubbed onto the inside of the ear). He hates taking pills, so this is just one more way to make his life a bit better. We will monitor closely over the next couple days, and hope that he feels better enough that we can have some more time with him. If this does not happen, she is on call to help us make that difficult decision.

Emily --

Can you fill us in on what meds the vet prescribed? Not that I'm questioning her decisions but we've been known to find medication interactions that some vets are unaware of. Using a compounding pharmacy was a good suggestion. Not all meds need be be giving as pills.

It's wonderful to hear that this vet is so kind and helpful!

It's so much better to have someone working with you and reassuring you than it is to have to fight every step of the way to get what you know your kitty needs.

Hoping this is just the beginning of much better days ahead for you both!

So happy to read this update. I'm delighted that you found a mobile vet that was so compassionate and willing to work with you. I'm sure you feel a lot better about things.

Sending tons of healing vines for your precious Prince.

:-D :-D :-D I'm so glad that the new vet is so caring and helpful! It takes the stress off you as well as Prince. Is the Pharmacy WEdgewood? We've used them and they are really great.

How wonderful that the new vet is so helpful and understanding. That's great you can get his meds compounded to transdermal. Sending more prayers.

Thanks for this update. I'm glad that the situation sounds like it'll be much easier on everyone now that you have a compassionate vet working with you instead of against you.

I hope he stays comfortable and playful as long as possible, whether that's a few days or a few years!
