8/26 Cobb AMPS 278 +5 345 PMPS 288

Yesterday

Cobb is coming back down. He just held on to those mid-300s yesterday, didn't he? No budge at all! Even last night's before bed test was over 300 -- which led to some excellent worry-free sleep from me.

Matty is FINALLY feeling better! His last day on antibiotics was yesterday. The meds gave him horrible diarrhea (TMI, I know). We were going through probably 10 diapers a day. Six of those, at least, at daycare. I know THEY are happy he's off the meds! Ha. I felt bad dropping him off, knowing what they were in for. But he is greeting me at the door "Mama, Mama" when I get home from work. And not nearly as fussy. He's starting to sleep better as well. I'm hoping we can start working on getting him back in his room later this week. Not optimistic, mind you, but he hasn't seemed quite as needy for nursing the past few nights. It's funny...everyone encourages breastfeeding, but they don't tell you how traumatic it is going to be for everyone to wean! And I'm not going to be nursing a 3yo! Just not what I want to do.

hahaha i went one year to the day with my first baby. she'd have kept going if I'd let her - the girl had 5 binkies at a time: 2 in each hand and one in her mouth. talk about an oral baby! the second one lasted about 10 months, but he basically weaned himself. the third baby started refusing to nurse at 5months if she was awake. I kept her going another couple of months but she was so highly distractable that she also weaned herself. Every sound, every movement stopped her cold and she'd have to look around.

good luck figuring out when the "right" time is for Matty!

How envious I am of you that yours would take a binky! We tried SO many brands before I just gave up. Matty would have it in his mouth for about 5 seconds, before he pulled it out, looked at it and then at me like, "seriously mom? who do you think you're fooling? give me the goods!" :lol: We have one floating around in our living room and he now picks it up and chews it as he's rolling around on one of his cars. I told him it is way too late to start that habit now.

ever tried getting a 2 year old to give up 5 binkies? :shock: :lol: She used to say "Bonnie want Bonnie's B's!" except there weren't really any N's in her words. I kept telling myself that she wouldn't have a binkie when she went to kindergarten, but i wasn't really so sure about that!

But she hasn't got one now as her wedding date approaches, so i guess it all worked out. :lol: :lol:

Glad to see Cobb coming down today, and glad that you are able to juggle your very busy, but satisfying life! I think of you, and this awesome community all the time.

I read your post from yesterday about taking up running. I am a runner and I absolutely love to run. I've been running my whole life, but I don't like to compete in races. I am running a big race in about 10 days, (Imogene Pass Run) but it is a rite of passage into the second half of my century. 50 is fabulous kind of thing! Hahaha. Firstly, you have to get a good pair of shoes. Go to a running specific store that has a treadmill so they can film your gait to fit an appropriate shoe. Then, take it slow. I don't like to time myself, so I would do something like gently run a block then walk a block. Gradually (and I really mean gradually) increase your run distance and reduce your recovery distance. You need to build up your muscular strength as well as your cardio strength, so take your time. It is also important to cross train. I do yoga, but lifting weights and stretching, or swimming or something like that works too. It is key to make running fun for you and meld it into your life routine. If you treat it like a task, you'll quickly give it up. Avoid running on the sidewalk. Concrete is really hard on your joints. I like to run right down the middle of the asphalt street when possible. Trails are the best running surface though. I run for not only my physical health, but mostly my mental health. It's my personal time, it's when I sort things out. Running, is for me, brain food. I can't imagine my life with out it! Good luck. When running is approached right, it can really enhance one's life.
