Yesterday's Condo

Last Night:
588 PMPS (TOR)
480 +2
271 +4.75
368 +10.25

I ran out of time to make a condo this morning, so am typing from work.

J.D. nibbled at some food this morning, but didn't really eat much, so he got syringed fed. I gave him 80ml as opposed to the 90ml I was giving BID.
At +1.5 when I left for work, he was at 515. So, to me, there is hope that he will go into the pinks and maybe yellows today, during the day.

We went for 2 walks this morning.

He did seem to be making noises when I got up at 4:00amish and found him laying next to the couch. I had gone to bed, and I guess he can't find me, and thinks I'm on the couch, and tries to jump up there and maybe can't do it so good. I'm not sure if he was anxious and making noises because of that or somewhat purring. They were kind of timed with his breathing and then some hiccuping sounding noises every once in a while. By the AMPS/feeding/walk time, the noises had left.

I hope he has eaten on his own today, and has come down nicely.

Paws crossed that the fuds are gone when you get home and that JD slides into some nicer numbers for you.

Re: 08/26 J.D. PMPS 518 went to vet

I took J.D. to the Farm Vet (whom, I love (not that way)), as he laid down after I gave him his R and he laid down after I gave him his Levemir, and he kept laying down. I don't think he ate that much today.

I first syringed 20ml of MaxCal before we left, and he didn't seem to mind it too much.

Dr. R. right away said "he's in great shape" even though he was laying on the exam table (the cat, not the doctor). I told him I wanted his heart and lungs checked and his temperature taken and his hydration checked.
He said his heart was good, and his lungs are good. His gums are pretty good. His temperature was 101. He said he was slightly dehydrated and he said he could give him 150ml of fluids, and I said I would give him some when I got home. I told him about his meds., and he said that since his WBC keeps coming up when we stop the Baytril, that next time, we maybe should wait a few days and maybe try Amoxicillian next time. He also said that maybe we could try Pancreatic Enzymes, but they did not have any in stock. I told him I would talk to J.D.'s regular vet to see if they sell them (I doubt it).

When we got home, I syringed 10ml of the mixutre of Wellness and ProPlan that I have been giving him and then I syringed 10 of the MaxCal (and boy, could I see the difference in his facial expressions. He does not prefer the MaxCal). I gave him most of his meds, and 100ml of Fluids.

I finally figured out at work (because it was exceptionally slow today) that the mixture of Wellness and ProPlan that I have been giving him is only 10 calories per syringe and that when I give him 9 of those in the morning and 9 at night that is only 180 calories per day, compared to just 6 syringes of MaxCal in the morning and 6 syringes at night, at 20 calories per syringe is 240 calories per day. And, he was getting all bloated when I was trying to give him all 6 syringes of MaxCal between 5:00am and 7:30am, so I am going to try to go back to mostly (or more anyway) MaxCal and give him 2 syringes of MaxCal at 6:00pm, at 8:00pm, and (like it is not happening tonight) get to sleep at 8:00pm, and wake up at 10:00pm and give him 2 more. Sleep until 2:00am, and give him 2 syringes at 2:00am, 4:00am, and 6:00am...for the next 3 days. Then I have a three day weekend coming up YAY!

That's my plan. We'll see if the old alarm clock wakes me up.

Counting calories is such fun! Achieving just the right balance is a real art. I hope your new plan will work well for J.D.

Eat yer fuds, J.D.! Have a good evening, Dyana. That 3-day weekend will be here soon!!

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I'm a worry wort, Tricia. He was eating a ton of food yesterday (like his normal self) for the first time in a long time, and then went back to being syringe fed today.

He does not like the MaxCal. His little face, and his ears all laid back (he got his ears cleaned, too). I mixed 1 jar of baby food beef with broth into the MaxCal hoping to make the flavor a little more appealing.

One more syringe tonight and then bed

Dyana, Tiffany hated MaxCal as well. She much preferred AD but it is high in fat and the reviews are mixed as to what that does with pancreatitis. Do you want me to ask the vet that posted about enzymes what brand he recommends since he said not all are good? Just let me know. I hope JD eats for you tonight.

Hey Dyana! Hey JD!

I hope you see some good results after your visit to your loved (but not in that way) vet! Hahaha I thought that was funny. And how the vet was sprawled across the examination table, hilarious! I mean, what must have JD been thinking about this crazy vet! I'm sure all of that good laughter will make him super hungry, lapping up all that yummy food for good old vim and vigor.

My best and strongest vines to you both. And laughter is always the best medicine!

Cheerio!
