Cool morning, mist on the fields. I guess it's fall! Today we go to help our local animal shelter raise funds for its first real building. DH and I are grilling brats and hamburgers at the local McMillan Township Fall Fest -- a Central Wisconsin tradition. Too bad the kitties can't join us; they'd get a lot of love there. cat_pet_icon

Have a great day, Lantus Land Neighbors!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303

Sounds like you are gonna have a blast!

I love doing events like that!

Have a great time and raise lots of money!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303

I really miss Central Wisconsin fall. I can see the mist, feel the crisp air.

Great that plans are in the works for a shelter in your area. A dedicated collection of folks working hard for the critters. Makes me smile.

Clare, you be good to the beans.

Hope your day is wonderful.

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303; +2.25-85 Yowza!

Looks like Clare wanted us to stay home this morning! Activating the sub volunteers -- will have to show up later.

Clare, you're killin' us!!

@ +3: Gave Clare 2 tsp HC with a couple of drops of Karo syrup. Looks like we'll be bouncing again. :YMSIGH:

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+2.25-85;+3-49 Yikes!

Clare and Billie must be in cahoots this morning!! Although Clare jumped off the high dive. Wow. I guess she didn't want you to have yummy brats and burgers without her.

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+2.25-85;+3-49 Yikes!

Third kitty reduction of the morning! And all happening pretty early in the cycles....

Something tells me da kittehs are conspiring again.....

Congrats on your reduction!!!!!!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+2.25-85;+3-49;+3.25-50;+3.75-60

Okay, coming up for air ....

Maybe it's the TV dramas, but something has me taking Clare outside for a walk when she gets into the low BGs. It's sort of like a "Don't go to sleep on me now, stay with me!" kind of thing. Anyway, while we were out Clare was doing her usual scanning for grasshoppers (we have zillions this year) and then she jumped up on the trellis fence we have around the veggie garden. It's just a short one, to keep out the bunnies; but just seeing her leap up like that and walk the skinny top of the fence made my heart sing.

So she's doing all right, and now I'm going to check out the other kitties who are in the greens this morning. How's Billie doing, Deanna?

Thanks for checking in with us, Molly and Marilyn (do you have mountains there in Utah, or are you in the low dessert?), and Shelly! Having your company during these times makes all the difference.

Happy surfing,

Georgette

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+2.25-85;+3-49;+3.25-50;+3.75-60

I can completely relate to your feelings this morning. When Jersey started to regulate, she was back to climbing on our window valances. Although that is a "no no" in our house, I couldn't scold her for it. I was just so happy to see her active again, even though it meant my valances were being shredded. :YMSIGH:

Nice to see that 60!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+2.25-85;+3-49;+3.25-50;+3.75-60

Aw, I'm so glad to hear that Clare was feeling adventurous in the garden!! That's so cool. Billie actually hung out in her test spot for some grooming and relaxing between the last two tests. She must have known that I'd be back soon! I hope Clare gets a nice surf going

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3-49;+3.25-50;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-

The Karo's worn off and she's down again, so we'll test again in a short while. Just gave her some MC. She's eaten quite a bit of her LC food and treats, too, so hopefully this will help her to get back above the 60 line.

It's a party in the lagoon with Tink and Billie, Skooter, Trixie and Cairo! dancing_cat dancing_cat dancing_cat

Obie from Relaxed is also partying in the deep end of the lagoon this morning. I hope all of the beans have had lots of ~O) ~O) ~O) this AM.

Come on, Clare, we're shootin' for 60s here!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.25-50;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.2

Skooter, please say that again.

Clare definitely didn't get your message! DH took her on another walk and when we tested she was at 45.

We put Karo on her gums and fed her some more HC - gravy from Gravy Lover's.

Back with another test in a moment.

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-

Okay, I'm probably overdoing it; but I wanted to get your ideas.

She went down to 44 and she's at +5.5 in the cycle, where she should begin coming up naturally, normally.

We gave her some Karo on her gums, and a few drops of maple syrup on the baked chicken breast pieces, which thank goodness she's never yet refused to eat.

Any other ideas?

I'll be watching on my cell phone while I watch Clare.

Thanks,

Georgette

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-

Just start the routine over again....

Once you get her over 50, then get two more tests about 30 minutes apart without feeding (as long as those numbers are trending up)....

This may be a cycle where you are going to have to test farily frequently....if you look at Skooter's SS for 08-05-14....the first time I shot a green....we tested pretty much all day :)

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-

When I've had a hard time getting Trix to come up and stay up, I put about a teaspoon (maybe a little less) of Karo on HC. Of course it's a short-acting boost, so close monitoring was still necessary, but the double-sugar-carb combo worked during those tough cycles.

She SHOULD start rising naturally, but sometmes you just never know, so that's why you have to keep up with testing until you get 2 non-food influenced tests in a row that are securely above 50.

Up, Clare...up, up up!!!

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-

you will continue monitoring and lather , rinse , repeat .... (test and feed)
you want two consecutive rising numbers without food or karo influence before you can stop checking.

it's good if you can get her to the 70's.

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;+3.75-60;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-

The chicken pieces themselves won't have an immediate effect on the bg, but the syrup and Karo should. You can always go back to the high-carb gravy off the food and mix that with Karo/maple syrup if she doesn't come up at the next test. Are you testing 30 minutes apart or more like 15-20 minutes apart?

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-44+6-51

Thanks SO much for being there, Molly, Amy, Rhiannon and Shelly.

We were testing about 20 minutes apart when she was in the 40s, then 1/2 hour when she was at 58. I couldn't really show it on the spreadsheet accurately.

So she's above 50 again (just barely) and I'll test again in about 15 minutes.

Lather, rinse, repeat. Okay, and remember to breathe (says my yoga teacher.)

I think Clare saw that I was getting too comfortable with the 50s and decided to liven things up a bit. She's a teacher, too. ;-)

Back in a bit,

Georgette

Re: 9/6 Clare AMPS 303;4.25-58;4.75-51;5.25-45.5.5-44+6-51

I always struggled with putting the right "times" on my ss, too, when I was testing low numbers. The reason I asked, though, is because sometimes it takes just a bit longer for the carbs to hit the bloodstream. If you were testing 15 minutes apart, it may have been that you just couldn't see the effects of the high-carbs/Karo you had given yet. ECID, it seems, when it comes to how long it takes to really see an effect. You know - 'cuz it's another way for them to confuse us! ;-)

Thanks once again to everyone for your support through this exciting day for Clare. We're having a relatively quiet night in comparison, so we're all off to bed early.

DH and I are on the road tomorrow -- plan to report in the morning's AMPS and +2, then we'll be mostly offline for a couple of days. I'll be checking in on everyone's news by cell phone but won't have much news to report of Clare - hopefully just "all's well" via the caregivers and it will be a very uneventful time here at home.

Your grateful LL neighbor,

Georgette
