Last evening, we had a lovely PMBG of 108, since DH was able to give her a "+10" snicky-snacky. Yes, Tricia....yesterday was not an "extra-early workout morning", so her "+3" test was later/further away from her last bite of fuds, and it does help prove my theory that my recent schedule change has affected her readings.

This morning, though, her readings are affected by MamaBean being a pilling putz ohmygod_smile . We almost had one of THOSE pilling episodes...my first couple attempts were extra-poorly placed, so she had to juggle a bit before she could manage to spit it out. Needless to say, that got her upset. She was poised to bat my hand down and gave me a warning hiss. Uh oh. I decided to give it a go one more time with the now-collapsing gelcap, and if it didn't go, I would repack it and take a break for a few minutes. Just as I started the pilling motion, she started the funny cat fight noises she began making last weekend when she was so upset with my pilling technique. But, due to momentum, I couldn't stop...and the pill went down! Phew...or so I thought. We both went about business as usual as soon as the pill went down: she jumped off the bench and headed to the bathroom (her morning hang out). I went downstairs to piddle for a few minutes before offering her more fuds. No more than 10 minutes later, I went up to feed her....and she had barfed during those 10 minutes. UGH! She hardly ever barfs...the last time was when she had pancreatitis in April. Since she seems to be feeling and acting fine, and has a hearty appy (both before and after the barf), I know I must have gagged her with that d*** gelcap. Naturally, being a frikken' insane MamaBean, I dissected the barf (who doesn't want to dissect cat barf at 5:30am  ???)...I could definitely see one piece of white pill in there, but I didn't see any bits of gelcap or other pills. I really hope they stayed put and didn't dissolve to the point where I couldn't see them. I couldn't repill because I didn't know what she got and what she didn't. This morning's batch was amlodipine, benazepril, pepcid, and cerenia. She's doing SO well....I hope this fiasco doesn't throw her off track.

So, after all that...I'm pretty sure that's why her "+3" isn't so hot today. I hope and assume. She's being so sweet and snuggly and lovey dovey. I wish I didn't have to do these stupid pills....fluids are no biggie, but the pills are a crap shoot.

More birthday dinner fiasco with my brother over my Dad's birthday dinner. My Dad wants to do an early dinner at 4:15 so the restaurant won't be crowded; my SIL was the manager of a high-end restaurant years ago and is therefore an expert  ...and insists that going at off-peak hours results in bad service and bad food. Be that as it may, this is what my Dad wants, because he doesn't want a crowded restaurant. But my brother and his wife KNOW better    , and keep harping on it. This is the same nonsense we went through last week that caused so much stress. I thought I had it straightened out and had them understanding what was important to my Dad, but apparently it didn't stick, since it was a complete rerun of the same thing this week. So I spent part of my day off yesterday in grocery stores (which I hate), and part of it playing arbitrator again. Argh. But, the good news is my Dad really didn't have a chemo crash, and now we know the crashes were primarily due to dairy, so it does look like we'll be able to have the party this week after all. He was pretty stressed last night, but I told him it WILL be fun, damn it!!

Time to get ready for work. Thinking of my wonderful, amazing, LL family....

Amy

I'm sorry about the pilling fiasco and the family drama. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Try to focus on Trixie being so snuggly and lovey. I hope things go well with your dad's birthday celebration. That is good news he didn't really crash this time. Sending prayers your way.

and in all honesty, I have done that too! And of course it is always at 0-dark-thirty!

WOW, and what a morning for you. I too would agree that the +3 is pill stress. Come on down Trixie. No more barfin' up the meds, 'K? I had that happen with Mannie a couple of times too....

oh my gracious on the family drama.... ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile I so hope that settles, as imho, it should all be about what your dad wants. Wishing you much luck, and of you go again, explaining things. Happy Birthday to your dad. it is so cool to read that there was little or no chemo crash this time. I never would have known on the dairy thing, and I have learned something with all that your dad has gone through. I hope the dinner for him goes well. Paws crossed.

have a great day Amy. I hope all goes well.

Sending calming vines as I know too well those SIL issues, sigh.

Sorry about the pilling today. It happens to all of us at some point. :YMHUG:

Pilling! Ugh!! Let's hope it will go better the next time. But it's good that after the barf Trixie settled down and all was OK again.

I'm so glad that your dad's chemo problems could be pinned down to dairy. How lucky! I agree with the others: whose birthday is it, anyway? Your dad's wishes should be honored. You can have fun even if you stay home and order out pizzas!

Thanks for visiting us today and for remembering Stu.

Have a stress-free evening!

Ella & Rusty

I can so empathize on the pilling problems!!!! Regarding your comment on my last condo, I did know you don't use a popper. I think Trixie's jaw is not as strong as Cinco's. I'd be afraid of hurting one or both of us if I used my finger, plus the gelcaps often stick to my fingers, even when I put butter on them. I can't get them far enough into his throat with my hand. I'm sure you're right about the BG reflecting the stress. I test before I pill, so that doesn't happen to us. Otherwise Cinco would have probably been through the roof! :o

I don't see anything strange about dissecting kitty barf! Been there, done that. Prefer not to do it again, but chances are better than average I will!

So sorry about the family conflict. I don't understand how anyone can not put your dad's wishes first in this. I don't envy your position in the middle. Sending calming vines for your whole family, and happy birthday to your DF. It's so wonderful that there has been no crash so far (anti-jinx). Amazing that something as simple as eliminating dairy could do that. Have you mentioned that to his doctors? I'd be interested in what they think about it.

I hope your day at tbp goes quickly and you have a great evening with your family.

Sorry to hear about the pilling debacles!! It sounds very challenging. I also don't think there is anything strange about dissecting kitty barf...how wonderful it is to be in a place where I'm not alone in that

You are an awesome daughter! I hope you all have a fun celebration despite the stress, and I hope everyone can agree that your dad should call the shots since it's his party! It's great that he didn't have a crash. That must be such a relief for all of you. Sending vines that he continues to do so well!
