Last Night:
HI PMPS
527 +2
177 +6

I didn't give J.D. as much syringes last night, as I fell asleep early, and I guess I decided in my sleepiness not to give him more at +6 when I woke up in the middle of the night, and see if he was hungry in the morning.
He ate a few bites (maybe 5 or 6) of FF Beef at AMPS and I decided to give him his Slippery Elm Bark then as I would usually give it at 4:00am on workdays..and wait the 2 hours to give him his meds./suppliments. I syringed his 1st feeding at +0.75 and we went for a walk in the light rain. He ate a few bites of MC FF Medleys at +2.5, and I told him last night that we would switch from the "Yucky Stuff!" RenaKare Gel to the Tumil K caplets this morning, and we did. We went for another walk, and then I syringed his 2nd feeding at +3. At +3.5, he went to the cat bowl and ate some MC on his own. Not a lot, but I was happy he did.

The squirrels keep coming in my house (Ginger is used to them and just stares at them, if that, now) when I leave the screen door open, and I throw peanuts out the open sliding glass door onto the deck. I have to stop doing that, if they are contributing to the flea problem as my DBF says. I still have not seen a flea and Ginger does seem to be scratching herself less. But, she has been opening the linen closet and hiding/hanging out in on the first from the bottom shelf, and so I often find J.D. hanging out at the bottom, where he has always liked to sleep.

This is my only day off this week, and I have not gone btb, and really should. It is raining a lot harder now, and I need to get to the vets to pick up some more Lactated Ringers. I asked the vet about the shortage and if I should worry about it and they said they had stocked up, and are holding 2 bags for me. After I go there, then hopefully this rain will lull me to sleep.

I know on the fleas this year, even after I put Frontline Plus on! I hate using those poisons but nothing else works. I need to get the DE out and sust all the carpeting and upholstery, then see if I can vacuum the little buggers out.

Sending more eating vines for J.D., those blues look pretty this morning.

He almost got a Green Smilie. I really am happy with him just going to blue each cycle, with his eating habits.

I have two cans of Iams Maximum Calorie left, and just decided finally, to check the box from PetFoodDirect to make sure the thoroughly bubble wrapped case of food in there was Iams MaxCal, and it wasn't! It's Iams Renal Plus. I called them and they are going to Over Night a case of Iams MaxCal to me, which should get here by Monday or Tuesday. I'm so glad I checked because I think I can make these two cans I have last until then as I mix them with other food.

Off to vet to pick up fluids.. I'll ask if they want this case of Renal Food.

what a nice cycle for JD today!

yes, i think squirrels can contribute to fleas. Have you done a flea check on the kitties? you can put them in your bathtub, shake their fur vigorously with your fingers so that it's really moving (sort of like you were tickling them, or making a shampooing action) and then take the cat out of the tub. spray or sprinkle a mist of water over where they were standing. If there is flea "dirt" or droppings, you'll see black specks on the tub floor that look like they bleed when they get wet. That's actually kitty blood that they've sucked. If you don't see that, you might not have a flea problem.

I just saw an add in a farm supply store for the diatomaceous earth - i want to say it was $10 for 20lbs. You could put that out where you throw the peanuts. You probably can't get rid of fleas on the squirrels, but at least it might kill the fleas that land on the ground. I had to stop feeding squirrels on my deck because they are killing the trees. There have been so many of them here, more than the trees could handle. the squirrels eat the bark and the limbs die. So rather than kill our 75 year old oaks, i stopped feeding extra food to them. There are still a couple that come and clean up under the bird feeder, but it's not the 15 that it used to be when i fed them.

enjoy your day off, dyana!

Wow, that is some action today, J.D. Sending you a ton of apply vines and sleepy vines to your bean. Enjoy your day, Dyana.

Someone couldn't wait to get into good numbers today!!! I'm glad he's stable and eating some on his own. How did he do with the Tumil K?

Is your vet giving you a discount price on the LRS? Most vets charge $18-20/bag for it and you can definitely get it cheaper through other sources. Even with the shortage, i believe thrivingpets.com has Baxter LRS.

Hope you all have a good day and I hope there are no fleas. That's what I love about AZ....we do not worry about ticks/fleas.

Hey, J.D.! It's great to see you on the blue floor! Cinco thinks you should hang there for a while with him. He loves company!

How nice to hear J.D. is going to the food bowl on his own, even if he's not eating a lot. As Amy says, "kitten steps"! :-D

I hope you get to go btb, Dyana. You need to get your rest! Rainy days are a good time to nap. I-)

What a nice J.D. report. Nice numbers, eating a bit. You rock J.D.

Sure hope you're getting plenty of sleep time, Dyana. Amazing what a difference it can make for us. And a less tired, less stressed Bean is good for the cats.

As always, vines, lots of vines.

Nice blues for J.D. today. I'm glad he's eating some on his own.

Hi Dyana,
What a good day for J.D.! Keep it going, J.D!!
Do you have a flea comb? You can comb out a section of fur and then tap the comb on a white paper towel. If you see black spots, it's probably flea dirt (I didn't know that this "dirt" is actually dried cat blood; thanks Julie!).

Good thing that you found the shipping mistake. Have a good night and get some sleep!!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
