Good morning! well not so good for Chi Chi. It is hard to say why she is so high, but she may be constipated. I caught her in the lb twice and she was having difficulty pooping, and did only a very small amount both times. At first, I was thinking that the insulin is indeed bad(I switched back to the other vial day before yest) I have to leave for work shortly, and I have nothing to give her for the constipation. Anyone know what I can give her tonight when I get home? Should I stop tonight and get some pumpkin? or is there something else I may already have on hand that works. I will try to log on today from work and check to see if anyone has answers and call my mom also to get updates, and let her know what to do/give her. Have a great day everyone and vines for those in need as well.

Re: 10/21 Chi Chi AMPS 400!

Sorry to hear Chi Chi is having trouble "going." You could ask your vet about Miralax or a stool softener. Lobster has chronic constipation and what finally got him on track was sprinkling Miralax on his food. He would never touch the pumpkin. I started out hiding a 1/4 tsp in some wet food but now I just sprinkle a little on everyone's food daily since there are now three cats in the house and I don't know which bowl he will use. It doesn't bother diabetic cats and Sarge gets it everyday. It actually makes pooing easier on his hips too. For occasional issues you would probably do the hide a 1/4 tsp in a little wet food trick. Miralax got Lobster off of daily meds for constipation.

I have never used it on a diabetic cat but when I need something more my vet had me use one 100mg Colace capsule (docusate sodium) on Lobster. Chi Chi would probably need less. It doesn't work immediately and you can only give one a day. I usually try this for a day or two and by then I can tell if Lobster needs an enema or if he has cleared himself. If he starts to vomit I move the time table up on the enema. I am dealing with a easily constipated cat and six years of trial and error so please seek your vet's advice as your mileage may vary. If I am ever in doubt it's off to the vet we go especially if Lobster stops eating and starts vomiting. Hope this helps :)

Don't know the affect it has on FD kitties, but a friend uses Miralax for her chronic constipation kitty. I'll try to see her today at work and see how much.

C'mon Chi Chi, poooooop nice.

Vines, Laura

Thanks for the advice Alison and Marilyn. I do have some Miralax powder form. Is that the kind to use? I am pretty sure she pooped today after I left. I have 3 kittys using 3 litter boxes, and the one she uses had what looked like her poop in it. Actually, they dont care which one they use, but us beans usually can tell the poops apart :-D I am going to be sure we are adding water to her food on a regular basis. My mom always does, but I have been slacking. She drinks a good amount of water from her bowl usually, but never hurts to add more! Her numbers did drop today, but no green. Lately its every other day for mr. greenie . She drops to green, bounces then surfs blue/yellow and then drops back to green. I think I will hold off on the Miralax for now, and see what happens from here.

Hi Laura. I give Max 1/8 teaspoon of Miralax ppwder mixed in a little baby food every morning and it keeps him regulated.

Yup, the powdered Mirilax is what you want. My civvie Frankie gets a maintenance "dose" of 1/8tsp mixed into her food twice a day. I add a lot of extra water - you want more water because of the way Mirilax works (it draws water out of the intestines or something along those lines). Hopefully you won't need the Mirilax, though!

Yep, I've got 5 kitties and I can usually tell which poop belongs to who (if my parents knew, they'd be so proud   )!!! And, I can tell who is in the box by the digging style! Oh, what a life....

Have a great night, Laura!
