J.D. and I got a remote Reiki session last night. Both of us slept really well.
J.D. got his first feeding and then gobbled some FF with cat treats and some kibble on top. He has had all his syringes and 3 walks so far today.

I did feel what felt like a teeny scab on the back of his neck, right about where his collars are (yes, he wears two). When I went to investigate and look between his hairs for it, I discovered a big bald area, about the width of his collar and about 2 inches long. Weird. One of his collars has "diamond" studs and the other is covered with sparkly material. He's been wearing them for over a year. I did find the spot I felt and it looked like a teeny pimple. I tried to pluck it off with my fingernails but figured plucking at a pimple wasn't nice, although he sits perfectly still for it. I put on my strongest glasses 1.50 and got out my lighted magnifying glass and looked at the spot, and now it's a little red around the spot from my trying to worry it with tweezers. He got Frontline on September 27th. Today, is October 26th, do you think it would be okay to apply a dose of Frontline today? I think I found a tick on myself, and I just want to make sure it's not a deer tick. But, it's probably just a pimple. But, why the hair loss? Strange. The hair loss seems to go right where his collar rests.

Today is house cleaning and laundry, and then taking my elderly neighbor out for an early dinner as I need to be home by 6:00pm for J.D.'s shot and stuff.

It's another beautiful autumn day here in New Jersey.

That blue is much better, J.D. Can you post a picture of his neck, Dyana? Have a nice day!

I put some of his neosporin with pain relief cream that I use on his ears on the little spot and the scab went away, but I can just barely see the spot (it's pretty small, a little bigger than a pin head).
It could also be from the baby bibs I use when syringe feeding. They have a velcro closure on the back.

It looks like something is definitely rubbing his neck. I can't tell from the picture, does it go all the way across the back of his neck? Does he move around a lot when you are syringe feeding him? Maybe the bib is getting stuck under his collar and rubbing his neck.

Nice slide to blues for J.D. today.

Personally, I wouldn't put any Frontline on his neck if it is irritated. If you can put it on a different spot, it would probably be okay.

I usually put it closer to the top of his head.
I'll just wait until sometime next week.

He was 316 at +8.25.

I need to get out of here to go out to dinner.

i can't see the spot, but i think i'd wait a couple of days to let it clear before using Frontline. You might want to get a harness instead of collar until his neck clears up. I don't know - i think i've had pets that wore collars that had bald necks before too. if you think it's irritated though, you might want to give it a break.

I don't know about the Frontline but I'm glad to hear he's eating and walking and acting better!

I loved Gingers pic yesterday :-D :-D :-D so adorable!!!

If it isn't red and you haven't seen him scratching at it, at least you know it isn't irritating him. I'd guess it's just the collar rubbing. I'd probably switch to a harness, too.

I'm glad to see he's still eating some on his own. Sending more good appy vines.

Angie's neck looks the same (hair-loss under the collar, not the spot). She lost her hair when she was 6 months old or so - I had put a flea collar on her. The vet said that can happen from a collar irritating the skin. She hasn't worn a flea collar since, and usually doesn't wear any collar at all but the hair never grew back. The vet recommended getting a soft suede collar if she needed to wear one to reduce rubbing.

More appy vines for JD. It sound's like he had a lovely day after his reiki.
