Well Ms P still seems to be feeling a bit sluggish today - this is pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday. Granted that "+3" is more of a "post-meal +1.5" than a post-meal +3", but we usually do see a little more movement by now. At least she's heading down and not up, but this MamaBean is still a bit nailbite_smile nailbite_smile nailbite_smile . I would love some more consistent numbers than this, but I also wonder if this is not unusual for a non-diabetic kitty who doesn't get ear pokeys several times a day.
Trix continues to feel and act awesome. She was pretty spunky this morning, verging on some zoomies. Very happy appy, snuggly kitty with soft shiny fur. She doesn't display any behaviors that send up red flags - but I'm watching her like a hawk (I know, what a surprise, right??). I am going to get a new battery for the meter today, just in case - although I know that is grasping for straws. But, I do remember the last time the battery went, I got some crazy readings, and once I switched the battery, things went back to what I was used to seeing. So, maybe that's it....
Today is Trix's 10th Gotcha Day!!! I've told her story many times, but it's always worth repeating: Our former neighbors basically abandoned her. She showed up on our back porch a chilly night in mid-October. We could tell right away that she was in trouble - she was frighteningly thin. But, she was also too scared to let us get near her. So, we had to set a trap to get her. We loaded it up with Fancy Feast and waited. One evening, we saw her walk in and start eating away....and the trap didn't trip!!! She was too light to set it off - that's how skinny she was. DH went out and adjusted it so that barely a feather would set it off. Trix came back, and this time it did trip. It was hard to see her so upset in that trap, but it was necessary!
Once we got her, we saw how skinny she really was - we could see her skeleton through her fur, and she weighed maybe 4lbs! On top of that, the stupid neighbors had declawed her, but didn't bother to spay her. Fortunately she did not find any gentleman suitors while she was out and on her own! We had to nurse her back to health before she could be spayed, and then we had to nurse her back to health after her surgery.
Since we had 5 cats of our own and were at capacity, we were supposed to be fostering Trix while she waited for a home of her own. What a silly thought! We knew right away that she was going nowhere. We have been very blessed to have her in our home and in our lives.
Happy Gotcha Day, Trix!!
My Dad had his chemo-to-go pump disconnected yesterday, so I suspect the crash must be on it's way. It usually peaks over the weekend....praying that it won't be bad, but not banking on it. Family controversy just sucked the life out of me yesterday...my brother and his wife (especially his wife)...well, since this is a family site I can't say what I think of them these days!
Frost on the cars this morning, too. Ugh.
And, on top of that...time to get ready for work. Have a great day, LL!
