Furball was happy & purry this morning. She's feeling pretty good, despite the bounce. She didn't eat very much of the food I left out last night. It's frustrating when she's coming down and won't eat and then bounces.

Callie seems to be doing pretty good this morning. She was sneezing a little bit again, so I gave her another Zyrtec.

I ordered some new syringes from ADW since I had such a hassle at Wal-Mart last time. I'm going to try the SureComfort syringes and see how they work. They seemed to be the closest to the Relions I am currently using. Does anyone have any advice on switching to a different brand of syringe? Thanks for your advice.

I'm going to be in a similar spot. I've been using Terumo syringes and they are being discontinued. Can you report back on what you think of the syringes you ordered?

Bummer on the bounce, but hope she comes down soon for you. Mannie was such a bouncer too. I can relate to your frustration.

I was a monojet user too, despite the issues so many had with them. Sorry I can't be of help.

I hope Callie continues to do well. Hope the meds help with the sneezes.

Hi Carla,
The hardest part about going to a different brand of syringe is "translating" the dose. Syringes differ in the diameter of the barrel--the inside of the barrel. I'm not familiar with either of your two brands, but when I switched from Monoject 31 gauge to Terumo 31 gauge it took a lot of trial and error. Fortunately I had Marje's research to draw on and could use some of her calculations, which were based on readings with MJ's scientific instruments.

I would suggest that you find a syringe of each type that is close to "perfect". The plunger should line up exactly with the zero line (this is not easy, since perfect syringes are few and far between!). Fill each to the 1-unit mark. Then try to measure how many drops are in 1 unit. Hold the syringe perpendicular and gently twist until a drop forms and runs down the needle. Count the drops in 1 unit. This will give you a rough idea if the two syringes are similar. Use an old insulin pen that still has some insulin in it. Water has a different consistency and will skew the results.

All of this shouldn't be necessary! A unit should be a unit! But unfortunately this is seldom the case, even with syringes of the same brand and gauge. This is where calipers come in handy.

No help at all, Carla, on the syringe question. This whole dance is hard enough without having to deal with the "mechanical" inconsistencies. Don't know what I'll do when my Terumo's are gone.

No advice from me. I was too dumb to know there was a difference! :lol: I have since been enlightened.

I'm glad Callie is doing better. I hope the Zyrtec stops her sneezing. Funny, it always seems to bother the bean more than the cat!

Sorry about the bouncing, hope Furball comes down for you tonight! No advice on the syringes from me either, however, I can relate to the problems you most likely had at WalMart! :roll: I had to go to 3 different Walmarts before they built a new one in my hometown, and now finally, the pharmacy clerk knows which ones I want! :roll: Sending continued prayers and hugs for Callie, glad to hear she is no longer sneezing! :YMHUG:
