I was feeling awful about not having time to post yesterday, and now I find that it wouldn't have mattered, as the board was down most of the day. I feel somewhat better. However, I missed awarding Cinco his Mr. Greenie, as he made a cameo appearance in the lagoon last night. He was looking for his buddies, China, Skooter and Max - he's really missed hanging out with them! Today he's back to blue, but maybe he'll try a swim tonight....

Minka had her second chemo treatment yesterday. The Oncologist was pleased with how she was doing so far - blood work looked good, no real side effects. She lost a very small amount of weight, but not enough to be concerned. She hasn't had much of an appetite since, so I gave her an Ondansetron, even though she didn't act nauseated. She must have felt a little off, as she ate better after the med. Fluids last night were uneventful. No leaks. :-D The Oncologist assured me that experienced, licensed professionals occasionally have the same issues I had and I shouldn't feel bad about it. I really like her.

After going back and forth via e-mail with Dr. D, a prescription was called in to Costco this afternoon for the Solostar pens! Yay! She wouldn't just give me a written prescription - insisted I tell her what pharmacy I wanted to use and they would call it in. I didn't feel it was worth fighting about any more. I'm just excited that I can go get the pens as soon as the ark is ready. :o

It has rained non-stop since last night. Napa has gotten more than 6 inches so far. We are somewhere around 3 inches, I think - DH hasn't checked his weather station since this morning. I just know my lawn is a big puddle. Please note that I am NOT complaining. We really need the rain - but it would be nice if we could get it in several smaller doses instead of all at once! :o  I'm just glad I didn't need to go anywhere today.

Harvey ate his breakfast with a little prompting this morning, then threw it all back up. :o He seemed to feel much better after that, but I still spent an hour chasing him to give him an Ondansetron. He has slept since then.

Sasha ate her breakfast with moderate enthusiasm. I took her some z/d and she was more interested in that. I guess I should just feed her that from now one. I stopped at my regular vet and picked some up yesterday - they had almost a case of the canned and an 8 lb bag of the dry on hand, whereas UCD requires a 10 day notice for reorder. They also ordered some more of Sasha's favorite Hypo treats for me - they'll be in by the weekend.

Caramel is melting on the stove for yet another batch of turtles. I finished the milk chocolate ones earlier and am starting on the dark chocolate ones. More bark to make today, too. English toffee requires the assistance of my DH, so I may do that tonight or wait for tomorrow night. I need to get it all done by Monday, so I'm trying to hustle. My house looks even worse than usual - if Ann comes on Saturday I may blindfold her before I let her in! I'm so excited for the opportunity to meet someone from our LL family in person!! :-D

I hope everyone is having a good Fursday. Sorry I'm still not getting much visiting done. I'm reading more than posting - there just aren't enough hours in the day!!! But I'm thinking of you all.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM. Cheers to Remi on day two of his trial and Obie on day nine!! So nice to have some good news in LL ! :-D

You get to meet Ann? Lucky you two!!! How fun!

The storm arrived here after lunch today. Big winds and trees coming down with the power going on and off all afternoon. Fortunately we didn't lose any trees and no one on our street did either, but when i came out into the parking lot after work, two of the gigantic plane trees (i think they might also be called elms) had major limbs down. They'd roped off those parking spots under the trees, including the one where i normally park. A little bit of luck there!

Yay for Cinco hitting the lagoon in the wee hours!

Gosh ladies the storms sound awful.

I am glad Cinco's numbers look so good because you have your hands so full with everyone else. You are a superstar kitty mom!

Re: 12/11 Cinco 245 +3.5 205 +6 186

Thanks for visiting, Ladies.

Julie, we were really lucky - we never got the strong winds they had predicted, or if we did it was overnight and didn't do any damage. Just lots of rain. Yes, I'm very excited to meet Ann. She's coming up this way to pick up some Bonsai trees. She may come here and meet my herd, if her heart is strong enough to stand a house that looks like a tornado went through it. :?

Linda! Lovely to hear from you. I hope all is well with Scooter. For us, the storm hasn't been bad. Just wet. Very. Wet. Yes, Cinco's numbers look good. I should send an updated copy of his SS to the IM that wanted me to reduce him to .75 to even him out! But I won't. I'll just wait to meet with Dr. Nelson. I hope I'm not making too much of this, but it really is exciting to get to see a doctor that has made a career of studying diabetes in animals!

Re: 12/11 Cinco 245 +3.5 205 +6 186

So the storm is due here late tonight and all day tomorrow. Being the whimp that I am I plan to stay home. With all the hype maybe it won't even be that bad.

So many on the lymphoma list use ondansetron regularly and I did too with Tiffany. It seemed to make Max sleepy at times but nothing like now. Sorry for hijacking your condo.

I hope everyone ate a good dinner and that Cinco and Max meet in the deeper side of the lagoon tonight. I'm pretty sure China will be there too.

I hope you guys are staying dry. YAY for finally getting that script in order...holy moly it should not be so difficult! I hope all the kitties have settled tummies and happy appies tonight.

To answer your question in Trix's condo...it was just good ole Fancy Feast Classic Chicken Pate that she was so enamored with. It just seems to be an exceptionally tasty batch, as she does eat it (along with Purina One Chicken Pate) all the time. Likewise, it is far from ideal for her because of the phosphorous content, but she just won't eat anything else that is both LC and lo-phos...and we all know, the best food for a cat is a food that s/he will eat. This is what Trix will willingly eat, so we just have to go with it. I do use some binder to help with the phosphorous...it's the best we can do.

I hope you're having a great evening, despite the storms!

Nice to see you, Elise and Amy.

Elise, if you're like us, you won't get a lot of wind, but plenty of the wet stuff. Staying home is still a good idea. In my experience, Californians forget what little they know about safe driving when it rains. I haven't seen sleepiness from the Ondansetron, but not sure how you tell - my crew sleeps 75% of the day, anyway!!!

Amy, I happen to have a couple of cans of that in my cupboard. I just gave Minka some FF chicken and beef and she was slightly more impressed with it than the z/d. I think it's almost time for another Ondansetron for her. I agree, it's whatever they'll eat! Minka is certainly putting me through my paces, but I have a cupboard full of options, so we'll see who comes out ahead! ;-)

Harvey ate his dinner without much issue. I'm sure the Ond earlier helped, and it was a fresh can, which is always better than leftovers.

Cinco got leftovers and was unimpressed, but a little freeze dried salmon dust on the top led to CPC ;-)

Well, must get back to the caramel!

Dark chocolate turtles?? Did I hear something about dark chocolate turtles??? :-D :-D :-D

Whoever first dropped a pecan into chocolate and found out they went together is a genius!!

I am amazed you have the time (and energy) to deal with all your fuzzy feets and still make candy!

It really is ridiculous what you're having to go through to get insulin, but at least now you have it in your hot little hands! Should last about a year as long as Cinco doesn't do anything silly (anti-jinx)

Great to hear how well Minka is doing! Hopefully she'll continue throughout the rest of her treatment!

Eat yer fuds little kitties...your mamabean has more candy to make and can't be chasing you all over the house!.....LOL

Re: 12/11 Cinco 245 +3.5 205 +6 186

Yes, Chris. Dark. Chocolate. Turtles. PM me your address and I'll send you some. ;-)

I forgot to mention that I heard back from Hill's yesterday about the z/d as-fed values. They really are very prompt to answer e-mails.

The protein on an as fed basis is 8.2 grams. This is the nutrient intake for every 100 kcals consumed. The fiber level on an as fed basis is 0.4grams. The ash on an as fed basis is 1.5 grams.

They forgot to give me the fat. :YMSIGH:
