Morning! Maggie seems okay but I notice is still constipated. I should be getting a call today to pick up the antibiotic for the UTI infection. I'm wondering why they didn't do a urine culture along with the urine analysis when they did the bloodwork, as I did describe her symptoms? I even mentioned I thought she may have a UTI. The Vet's office closes at Noon, so I hope we don't have to wait until Monday to start her on the antibiotic.

Hi Ann and Maggie, hope you got a call from the vets, that would stink to have to wait until Monday to start them!!! Nice amps this morning!

Hi,
No call yet. I'll give them until 11 am and then make a call. It's 15 minutes away, so very close. I hope they don't find anything else with the urine culture. I want to go up regardless as I want a copy of her bloodwork for my records.

sorry about the UTI, but the good news is that you're on top of it and will get Maggie all fixed up quickly. Keep an eye on her numbers once she starts the a/b, once the infection starts to clear sometimes numbers drop.

Thanks everyone. I just got home. I called when I didn't hear anything, and they had a partial urine culture report back, and it shows an E coli bacteria infection. This really surprised me. I have an antibiotic to give her every 12 hours for three weeks. Hopefully she will start feeling better soon. I gave her one antibiotic inside a pill pocket, and it went down easily. Thanks Lucy; I'll keep an eye on her numbers.

Hi Ann and Maggie, which ab are you on? Wow 3 weeks is a long time. Scrabble was on baytril for 2 weeks with his infection. That is awesome that you are able to pill her!!! Have a great Caturday!

Re: 5/8/10 Ann & Maggie11 AMPS=124 Update

Glad you got something for her so it can get to work right away. Do you have Probiotics to add to the food?
A lot of people give Fortiflora....hope she will start to feel better soon!

Re: 5/8/10 Ann & Maggie11 AMPS=124 Update

Hi Michelle,
I was surprised with the three weeks, too! The name of the antibiotic is Amox/Clavulante 62.5 Mg. Her appetite has been good the last three days since she took an appetite stimulant.
Hi Pat,
No I don't have any Probiotics. I've heard mention of the Fortiflora here in some of the posts. Is that only available thru the Vet?

Re: 5/8/10 Ann & Maggie11 AMPS=124 Update

FortiFlora isn't prescription. You can get it on Amazon or through PetFood Direct. If you are near a Whole Foods, I've found ReNew Ultimate which is more potent than FortiFlora. FortiFlora has the advantage of enticing our kitties to eat!

Thanks Sienne. That would be much better than the appetite stimulant. There is a Whole Foods not too far from me.
