Previous Condo for Shadoe

Shadoe seems to be hold her own on the decrease to 6.5uLev. No R needed now that her raid on the kitty krak has left her system. I tell you, she actually had that look like a kid who eats a whole tub of ice cream or something. She looked like she was sorry too.

Anyways, not much to report; she likes to sit quietly around corners or under the sofa, then jump out and hiss / screech at Oliver. He's caught on to her foolishness and just stops and looks at her. She also knows that he is not going to do anything about it, so she walks away happy with herself - what a silly girl she is.

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

LOL @ the pics Your kitties have as much "stuff" as mine do (ok, maybe more, half of the "stuff" laying around here is drooler "stuff") Looks like the kitties have more "stuff" than mombean has  Honestly, I think my floor was cleaner when my kids were small. I've given up trying to keep toys picked up, the "kids" just drag them all back out the second I've put the last one in a basket. At least the human ones could be trained to return some of the toys to their baskets... but the furry kids, no way Jose!

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

I pretty much give up on the keeping things neat; they just put the stuff wherever they like again. Shadoe doesn't even like to eat her food in the bowls; she takes a mouthful and drops it someplace then eats at the pile.

And the rug is forever covered in nip and crumbs and their hair - I think they are like |PigPen from Charlie Brown comics - a cloud of dust and crumbs follow them every place they go.
I pretty much vac the rug at least once a day.

And if cats were able to put away their toys, when asked to clean up, their reply would most likely be something like "But that's what YOU are for!"

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

I *try* to vacuum daily but it doesn't always happen. Even when I do, the dogs go out and lay in the yard and bring back leaves and dirt and stuff and the cats (BB is the worst!) just love to throw the litter out the door of the box so within minutes you can't tell I vacuumed at all except around the edges where the lines from the vac are still visible ;) I really want a Roomba... a LOT but I'd probably have to run it non-stop and empty it every ten minutes

Isis likes to carry her foods to another spot, drop it and eat it but I'd never heard of a kitty doing it till the first time I saw you describe Shadoe doing it! It's got to be cool to watch. I'm so simple minded I'd be highly entertained if I could watch that several times a day. Mine are all rather boring eaters... nothing entertaining at all. I just have to go behind and clean up the bits that get pushed over the edge of the dishes.

I can't put 'nip out very often, Tugger and Tux turn into mean drunks rather than mellow potheads  so I have to be right there whenever I put it out, so I can break up the bar fights that inevitably happen

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

When Shadoe ate only dry foods, she always would take about 6 or 9 pieces in her mouth, scurry over to some spot, drop the mouthful, then daintily eat them, piece by piece.
She still does a variation today with wet; she grabs a big chunk of foods then drop it outside the bowl, then take her time eating tiny bits.
The only way I can keep the foods in the bowl is to make it very sloppy, like soup. She does like it that way too.

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

I wonder if she doesn't like the shape of the bowl? I ended up having to find wide but shallow bowls, wide enough that whiskers weren't touching the edges so much but shallow enough they don't have to go diving to get to the foods. It turned out they finish the food every time in the new bowls, but the same food in a deeper bowl with higher sides will only get eaten for a minute or two then they cry for me to pile it back up when it gets too low. I tried small plates but needed some sort of curved edge to keep the foods in the dish. I've managed to find about 6 mismatched bowls that work, from thrift shops. I look every time I am near a TS, hoping to find enough to have at least two full meals worth of dishes so I don't have to wash the same ones 4 times a day.

Was she a rescue, like from the streets, where she might have had to grab what she could fit in her mouth and get out of the way so other strays could get in? I know often dogs carry food to other locations when there are multiples eating at once, I assume it's some sort of self-preservation tactic.

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +2.5~239

Nope not the bowl because she does the same thing even if it's on a flat plate or just the floor. I think she is part squirrel. She wants to eat her foods in the spot she selects. The odd time, I can move the bowl or plate to her selected spot and she is OK.

Booboo was from the humane society from a litter of 4 all black kittens. She was the last when I got to pick a cat, and no wonder! She has been standoffish since day 1 at age 4 weeks or so. I believe they were just abandoned, maybe feral? She has never taken to me or anyone; humans and others are just 'tolerated'.

Shadoe was purchased at a pet store. I had just given the first cat I had from another person who had lived in a house. She just never adapted to indoors, and she settled nicely in a house again. Unfortunately, Booboo was all alone, so I got Shadoe to be her buddy. They are TOTALLY buddies now, so I always wonder if Oliver feels left out so I give him lots of extra attention.

If you want cheap and available bowls, just use pie plates.

Re: 5/27 Shadoe amps 236 +6~220 +9~266 pmps 383 +2~310

Shadoe's numbers are looking wonderful. I had to laugh at the picture of Shadoe and Oliver. I thought BooBoo was small in relation to Oliver. Oliver is just plain huge. Your description of Shadoe giving him a hard time made me giggle. They are all such good kitties! What fun you must have.

Yes, you read that right. She jumped up 120 in 2 hrs. No idea what's going on, but gave her .75R.
Maybe she's decided she does not like her current dose. Ugh
