yesterdays topic viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17214

When I was giving this morning's shot, it reminded me that yesterday morning Cody was very squirmy, (It was 15 min late so I was trying to shoot then feed, and he wanted food first). I think he started to jump away as I was injecting and I felt like it may have gotten into his fat/skin rather than deeper subcutaneous space. He didn't smell like insulin so it got in, just maybe not into the best layer. Maybe that explains why it was so erratic yesterday.

So today I held 8.5u and hoping for the best - "Optimism can take you anywhere" Thinking happy thoughts!

My older sister is arriving today to visit my very elderly parents that live 1 mile away. She hasn't visited in about 15 months- boy is she in for a surprise...

Would this be a good surprise or a bad surprise? Hopefully, a good one.

Now that you are increasing quickly, I'll bet you get some nice numbers sooner than later. It will be WONDERFUL to see the boy in blue.

Hi Heather,
Well,it's lucky I still have them both, but they are 88 and 89. Dad, once a brilliant thinker, is fading fast. Mom hangs in there, but is getting confused and forgetful herself. Its a blessing and a challenge. Of their 4 kids, I'm the only one in town, so even though I say "I'm retired", between "the boys", "the folks", and the kids I don't feel like it     oops forgot Tucker (marley) and DH who works at home.
Its a hopping place! It not unusual to have 8 cars in the driveway.

Oh and I think I may have figured out another explanation about the odd readings. I mentioned in the last 2 days that I'm having trouble with some new strips, so I opened another vial, same issue, and finally today I figure out I should try a new replacement meter I've kept in the drawer ( super mom - prepared for the day #1 dies). It is the same brand etc, because I do really like its consistency (and price). So minutes apart I got a 314 on the old and a 278 on the new< so maybe..... I think I've dropped the other one a few too many times.

He's really good. He had his last amikasin shot on friday. on saturday the blood test showed normal white blood cells, normal hematacrit. His kidney function stayed the same and is still fine for his age. I still have to encourage him to eat sometimes, but frequently he'll eat on his own now. he has a bad tooth which will come out I think once he gets some weight back on him/ past this trauma.

The ER vet suggested to PTS. The reg vet said after she discharged him that he is a miracle kitty. I credit all their hard work, a lot of feedings and fluids around the clock, and mostly everybody's prayers- thank you all sooooo much. I KNOW in my heart that's what saved him. He's sleeping like an angel on dd bed. I wish you could feel how incredibly soft he is- his fur is like a bunny's. Its black but when you brush him backward its grey- I've been told its called "smoke" anyway I'm so happy to get more time with him.
