Howdy!
I had to be gone most of the afternoon where he has been surfing greens(fingers crossed anti jinx) recently so I didn't get to test this afternoon. Tested as soon as I got home and he was at 119. He eats good in the morning. I wonder is there a way I can help him not drop so fast in the AM? In the evenings he drops slowly from yellow to blue, in the day he starts yellow, drops quickly to blue then green then comes back up. He doesn't each much at night, and during the day I monitor his feedings.

I DID get the freeze dried treats, and they are a big hit, with EVERYONE so that's all good too. Purrcie still thinks he's got it over on me and I won't tell him any different. LOL.

Right now he is serenading me with "The Green Mouse". His favorite toy, he brings it to me and lays down with it then sings to the mouse telling it all his hunting tales and most recently party stories. It's so cute. He sounds like he really is singing.
MmmmmmmmmmMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOwwwwwwwwwww???? mmmmmmmmm....mmmmmmmmm...mmmmmmmmuh moooooooowwwwwwwwwww?????
Each one goes high pitch at the end so it sounds like he is asking a question. Sometimes his voice cracks. Sometimes it's a partial muh muh muh before a long mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooowwwwww and THAT sounds like he is getting revved up, HAHA! I wish I could get that on video!

Seriously - you have to get that on video...

How often does he do that? Can you just keep a camera or recording device at arm's reach all of the time? LOL

Nice blues there, Purrcie m'boy...

I wanna see a video too! You can probably get a clip using a regular digital camera... nothing fancy is needed.

With respect to your drop question, a few questions come to mind.

Do you feed the same at night as during the day?
Does Purrcie eat the same quantity of food during the day as while you are trying to sleep (note the word trying)?
Do you pick up food 2 hours before PS times?

To me it looks like Purrcie likes to use the evening as rebound cycles. Rebound appears to be short-lived so the next morning he is ready to go again! Some cats take 72 hours.... so it's good to see a short RBC.

You could try food manipulation a little to soften up the drop. For example, you can feed a snack at shot time and feed a bigger snack at +1.5 and other smaller snacks thereafter... Luna/Ronnie was on mini-meal diet and it worked great. Others are on onset snack -> Tizon was but I don't know who else right at the moment.

Also... one last thing, I don't know enough about SQuids to comment on the potential effect of them on the difference in BG in the day vs night.... maybe someone else could comment.

I hope this helps you a little.

A few days ago I tried free feeding, but he still had the big drop at the beginning of the morning cycle. I do pick up food 2 hours before shot times. I set 2 alarms, one for AM to pick up food and one to get up. But ever since I started this routine I never get to sleep till the second alarm goes off as the Purr man usually jumps on my stomach or my head to get me up sooner.

I like trying the onset snack idea at +1.5.

I would feed the same at night(small frequent snacks) but he likes to get on my bed or pass out on the living room floor and isn't interested in eating. He sleeps so sound that I can take BG tests and he sleeps through them, although he might open one eye to see if there is a yummy treat afterwards! :-D

He used to get Squids at right about +6 when he was on Humulin and stayed with that routine until recently . Humulin was out of his system so fast that it didn't matter. But I changed Squids to later in the day as suggested by someone on this board so it would not interfere with nadir. Said I can do either late in the cycle or early. So he has been getting them around +8 and a few times at +1 on the PM cycle.

That is really interesting that possibly the evening is a rebound cycle. Hmm! I never considered that. I wondered what this pattern was I could see developing (aren't these SS charts the greatest??!!) and wanted to know what was causing the evening cycle to be higher than the AM especially since he doesn't seem to want to eat much at night.

Thank you all so much for the feedback!

I DO have to get this cat singing on video! He'sll go on for 15 minutes sometimes. We started making a big fuss over him when he does it, petting him and telling him he's so cute, etc. NOW the civvies are doing it too. So hilarious because his sister sounds like someone trying to sound LIKE a cat, it sounds really fake and forced, LOL! Like MMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE........OOOOOOOWWWWWW??? Real long emphasis on the MMMEEEEEEE part, HA HA HA HA they are so funny deez kitties!

Gabby has a tendency to plummet early in the cycle. I've divided up her meal for each cycle roughly into quarters. I feed her 1/4 of her food at pre-shot and then at +1, 2, and 3. This seems to be cushioning her drop.

Beautiful numbers today Purrcie--Now I know why you named him that! Moonie goes MURRRRR OWWW in a sweet high little voice--so cute!
Maybe they could talk to each other It would be sooooo cute!
Great numbers today--Keep going!

I saw your response in Gabby's condo. I'd try the suggestion I made above before going the HC route. The reason I'm using HC is that historically, Gabby hasn't held a dose reduction. I'm trying to prevent her from going too low by using HC to manipulate the curve. Purrice isn't in the same place as Gabby. I'd try loading the front end of the curve with food first.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Purrcie don't forget to get you pink catillac all shined off for Thursday. We have all sort of things planned including a fireworks display thanks to the Canada Day celebrations that will also be going on. Good numbers today.
