Re: 7/01 Ann & Maggie AMPS 106

I love the AMPS and I love when they get excited about a new toy, just like children. It's so cute to watch them play.

Boy, sure would like to see a pic of her playing with that new toy... or any pic, really! LOL!

Nice AMPS... it's so fun when they play...

I know; isn't it terrible. I'm so behind the times with no digital camera. Every time I think I may have a little left over, something comes up! Now I have my trip to the east coast for 6 days mid July. There is a $30.00 Polaroid digital on Amazon, but I wonder at that price,

Well, before I went out the door, Mags was 100 bg, so I topped her Sophisticat with a little FF chicken with gravy, and it didn't raise her bg at all, very little, Her mouse toy is stuck under the ironing board leg, so I'd better go help her.

Do you have a regular camera? You could scan a pic in. Or I know some places would put your pics on a CD if you wanted when you got them developed... don't know if they still do that.

Blue just keeps telling me how pretty Maggie is... I just want to see if she lives up to the hype ;-)

Oh yes, I have one of those one-time disposable cameras, and I think they will make a CD. I forgot they also sell these one-time use digitals sometimes for twenty bucks, another thought! I could try to get a whole body pic, as she's a Manx (part mix), and has the cutest rear end with just a stubble of a tail!

OMG - that sounds too cute!

Oh gosh, do I feel terrible! I was at a pet store (not Petco or PetsMart) looking at feeders, and the sales person and I started talking pets. She mentioned a wet food called BFF (Best Feline Friends) tuna and chicken that was low carb. She even called Customer Service and it all seemed a go, Maggie loved it and ate half a can, but it must have not been that low carb for her bg to rise to 147. I have learned my lesson to keep on Janet & Binky's list and Mag girl will go back to her Sophisticat Chopped Grill and also Salmon. She sure was enjoying it too much for it to be low carb.

I was looking at the Pet 4 Safe - is this the one most of you use?

It's a PetSafe 5. I've not had luck with this model. The first one was DOA. The second one died after a month. The 2-compartment version doesn't have a motor and works better for me. It's much lower tech.

The folks at pet stores are generally not all that knowledgeable unless they have a diabetic animal at home. Even then, I've had people tell me how they feed dry.

Oh, I do have a bunch of the BFF in my cupboard! That's what Kasha was eating before she was dx'd. I may have tried it on her a few times since, but she hasn't been that into it and I didn't give her any of the options with a lot of gravy cuz that was too suspicious. The tuna and chicken has potato starch, it looks like. Some of the other varieties could be ok... only some varieties have potato starch.

Kasha also loved Weruva, but there were too many veggies and stuff for me to continue feeding that.

I bet the pet food store person was thinking that grain-free means low-carb. Common misconception...

Oh, btw: I've used the Lentek 6-day auto feeder before, back in the dry food days. That's the one with 6 compartments that you can choose 24, 12, or 6 feeding hour intervals. 6 is a little long I think to be useful.

Edit: Oh, I found the other feeder I've used: the Ergo 8-Day Auto Pet Feeder - has 8 compartments, and ice pack and can be programmed for whatever hour - not just the increments I listed above for the other feeder... It's 78.99 on Amazon, but I bought mine cheaper on eBay...
