7/8 Sara AMPS~92

Morning LL,

WCR Sara's #'s are great, but shes still peeing outside the box. I put an extra one on this floor in hopes that she'll use it. She's only been on the medicine for her thyroid for a couple of days. I just hope its the answer.

We had litter box issues a few years ago - don't know if it coincided with Kasha's thyroid issues - I didn't make that connection anyway. But I started using a product called Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract. It's a kitty litter that has some natural attractant added to it. It's pricey, but I recall that they guarantee 100% litter box usage or your money back. It worked reasonably well for us. I could mix it in with other litter to stretch it after a while... they also have just an additive you can add to other litter as an attractant, I think - I never saw that at a store and I wasn't motivated enough to try to order it online.

We don't use the Cat Attract anymore - haven't really needed it. But I thought it was a decent product and might be worth trying...

In my quest to correct the lb issues, I also rearranged litter boxes, got new litter boxes and after a while of experimenting with litter boxes placement to see what would work, I swear it looked like aliens had landed and were trying to communicate in new and different ways through litter box configurations...

Ive always had a problem with Spike missing the litterbox, sometimes more than others. I now have the biggest box there is with high sides. Hes a big cat and he just doesnt get his bottom in far enough and over shoots the side of the box. I bought some puppy pads to put on the floor to catch his pee when he misses, these have worked out well. For now just try to make the clean-up as easy as possible for yourself.

Jan...I also used Cat Attract when I had a problem with Putty peeing outside the box. I had to get a new litterbox because I think he associated the old one with pain. It all worked so if you get new litter you may want to get a new litterbox also.
