I know you hate doing it, but really... I give Cosmo bonito flake treats afterwards and he LOVES SQ time now. He jumps up on my lap, and I pet him the whole time. Then, when we finish, he starts begging and meowing for the treats.

You know what Cyn? I don’t really hate doing it anymore! I’m so over it - and OMG what a relief that is to say!
I could do that.
I do need help from DH though since I use such small needles and he has to squish the bag or it might take forever - but I’m sure he’d be okay with it.

And since this IS an ISG I suppose I should add that Doodle is reboundy today from his nice numbers yesterday - 1ps = 210, 2ps = 221

Yep, foreign language to me too, but I'm glad Doodle is doing well.

what's the concentration, how much is 15 mEq inj potassium in ml terms? is injecting it into an injection port as you're giving squids (as opposed to pre-adding the potassium to the bag) an option? there are IV lines with injection ports for giving inj. meds. that's what we do for meowzi's famotidine and b-vits (not altogether, of course).

it usually takes two of us to do it - one to gently restrain kitty (we scritch her head mostly, not much restraining needed unless it's a bad poke. doodle may be good enough that you won't have to restrain) while the other injects, watches the level and stops the flow. but dh has been able to pull it off on his own before several times, and i've done it once by myself.

It's been a while since I had to give Emma potassium, and I think I was adding 20 mEq's to 1L of fluids. From what I remember, it was a pretty small bottle - probably a little larger than an insulin vial. But I also remember she was far more uncomfortable when the potassium was in the bag than she is now. She cried a little, and couldn't wait to get out of my lap. Now she just hangs out, and hardly notices when I stick her.

I am totally impressed that you have mastered squids! Hope Doodle feels well.

It's been a sort of a rough day.
Everyone is fine - just a 3 old daughter in meltdown mode - and vomiting cats - and a dog with diarrhea. :roll:
