Good morning and happy hump day.

Its been a couple of weeks since I posted last. I had to step back a bit and regroup after Curry was dx in an attempt to obsess less about Curry's diabetes. Posting just made me think and worry about it more. I'm able to breathe a little easier about our new journey and I'm learning how to be a little more comfortable w/shooting lower numbers......still will have a bit of a time when I know I have to go to work. So far my co-worker and supervisor have been tolerant of my weird work schedule and my need to update them about Curry. They "should" be tolerant as they are social work counselors as well. :-D I've taken one big project off my plate at work until the Spring which I was really stressing over. And I will be moving in a month to a new apartment and wonder how Curry will do w/the changes at that time. I guess its silly to worry now about something in the future. It will work itself out.

So Curry seems to be adjusting to the insulin. We started at 1 unit and went to .75 for a short time. Now we are shooting .5 lantus and her numbers are slowly trending down after one month. She tends to drop early in the cycle....usual nadir is +3. I've learned to take a reading at +1 to see if she decides to scuba dive.....I usually have pretty good indication at that time. So I try to front load her food to help slow down any sudden drops. We are off the kibble completely but I do need to sprinkle the bonita flakes and chicken dust on her food at pre-shot time to get her to eat her 1st breakfast. When her numbers begin to drop over the first hour, she will tend to eat more w/o the flakes or dust. All P's seem to be in place.

Welcome back Tena!!
I'm glad you posted with your updates.

a couple of thoughts, I say this cuz, what you described sounds like Luna.
His nadir was early, but slowly crept up to around +5/+6 over time.
So note, it can change.

The sprinkling of dust on food is a good plan, it's annoying but it works! lol!

Me: EAT!!
Luna: No, not without dust, hmmmfpp! cat(2)_steam
Grrrrrr!!! Grumble, grumble...those were the days.

SS looks great by the way - lots of notes, good info.
And food switch success! Yai! Doing very good!

Happy to see your great report Tena...sounds as if there are lots o things you have change...
Glad it is all working out for you with work and the whole FD thing. It's a lot to deal with...
Glad Curry is doing so well...have missed seeing your posts! Welcome back!

As far as the move is concerned, thy do have that plug in Feliway that you might want to look into.
It's available at pet stores but also online. Maybe others will have some hints to make the move easier on Curry....

Front loading the cycle is a strategy I've been using with Gabby for some time. I tend to top LC food with gravy.

I can't tell from Curry's SS what numbers you're using to signal a dose reduction. It doesn't look like you're using numbers below 50 or did I miss something? Or are you using an AlphaTrack meter?

Nope, you didn't miss anything. Vet recommended the dose reductions when she dropped so quickly or hit the low 50's range. Using the One Touch Ultra.

so nice to see you here and I do understand how posting every day makes you think about your numbers it does, never hurts to take a step away but so happy to have a Curry update and wonderful numbers and BTW I have to sprinkle Do Lou's food I would say 90% of the time so I think they get us trained that way

Thanks Lisa. I was so intrigued by the photo of Do Lou that I checked out your blog and website. The Do Lou is such a beautiful kitty.
