Sleeping peacefully right now. He is getting a little tired of me testing his paws, but acts like I'm killing him when I try the ears.

Questions:
1. I've heard you guys talk of a clear cap for the lancing device... Where do I get it?

2. If I use the ReliOn black lancing device, which setting would I use for the ear (1-being smallest, 5-being biggest)?

can't help with the questions - sorry... i don't use the device, nor the re-lion... but at least this will bump you up in cue.

I also have a One Touch lancing device that goes from 1-9. I could use that one if I knew which number to prick with.

If you were an hour late shooting, remember that there's a time change for daylight savings ending tomorrow. Will this put you on schedule or not?

Beautiful looking cycles the last few days. It sure looks as if Sue is liking Lantus.

Being an hour late today because he was pretty low this morning (+12=68, +12.5=70, +13=98) will actually help me. I was already an hour late in general because I had gone on vacation and slowly moved the time later so my neighbor wouldn't have to come at 6:15 a.m. I moved to 7:15 a.m. Today shot at 8:15 a.m. which will be 7:15 a.m. tomorrow. Right?

+3=61, gonna go take him to the food bowl. I free feed LC wet, but sometimes have to remind him when to eat!

I hear ya on taking the kitty to the food bowl...especially when they get low.....I have done that often myself......Don't have any answers on the lancet for you...sorry......But great numbers for Sue....Woohooo...She is doing very well.....And nice job managing her.

Hi Jenny! Yes, to your question about the time- you have it right, you shoot at 7:30 tomorrow and it will be the same "hour" as this morning.

As for the clicker device, it depends... (you knew I was going to say that, I bet!)
When I started I had to use the device at a medium high number. My clicker went from 1-5 and I used it at 4. I tried lower settings at first but didn't get a big enough blood drop so I kept increasing.

Now I only use the clicker at setting #2 because I have more practice. I learned to hold the device quite firmly on the ear before pressing the trigger. I use cotton make-up squares underneath since they are firmer than a cotton ball and I can fold and hold the square over the ear after the poke to prevent bruising. Some people use paper towels for the same purpose, but I like the cotton squares since I can keep them neatly in my testing kit.

Hope this helps. I do use Neosporin with pain relief on the ear too. I put a tiny bit on and them smear most of it off with the warming rice sock. That way the numbing effect was there for a short time and yet not much goo is actually left on the ear. Then I poke.

The Neosporin may be more for MY psychological well-being than for BigMac's comfort. :lol:

CD, Thanks! It did help! Gave it a try with the cotton balls and things went much better. I had been using the lancet needle in my hand instead of the lancing device. I tried the lancing device today and didn't get enough blood, but Sue did not react. It did not seem to hurt him!!! YAY! Thank you for the advice.

Beautiful numbers Jenny! Glad to see he came up for you.

I use the Relion lancing device, mine came with 2 caps, the black cap that has the depth adjustment, and a clear cap that doesn't have a depth adjustment. Yours only came with the black one? I would call the 800 # and tell them that...I bet they will send you a clear cap!

I use the cotton rounds...same idea as the squares, works great for me.
 
Wowee! Sue sure is looking good in all that green.
He sure looks like he knows where he is going...you know where! (anti-jinx) :lol:
