11/23 Curry PMPS 102 +2-92, +3-74, +4-62

All is well in CurryLand. Curry is guarding the window and Sid is attacking the nanners.


I find it strange that Curry's bg was not effected by the 8%carb EVO kibble on Sunday....yet, when she had the 4% FF chicken feast classic yesterday her bg went up. Ummmmmm.

So I think its time to get an artificial Christmas tree....I use to get fresh ones.....smelled so good....but with Curry's asthma I was told it could exacerbated it.....so haven't had one in a few years.......With the fresh ones...the kitties use to try and lay on the bottom branches and the tree was heavy enough and well supported that it would never fall over......with the artificial trees I suspect it might be a different sotry.....any suggestions w/stabilizing the tree. Looking at a 7ft tree w/a 42 in base.

sorry i can't comment on the Christmas tree....when Rocket was young he would play with the bottom ornaments.....so for a while there were no ornaments at the bottom...the tree looked funny....be it fake or real tree! ...so i got a smaller tree and been placing it high enough he can't reach it (a he is no longer able to jump up)

i've had to laugh the last few years when i see the return of the artificial trees from my youth...
if you had them, you'll remember the shiny silver tree with the big light unit that plugged in and had a multi-colored plastic screen that you pointed at the tree so it would transition from red, to yellow green and blue as the disc rotated...

we thought we were the height of fashion with that one...

Even though we are jewish, we have always had a xmas tree--The first few years, the cats would send the glass balls flying around the house, so we opted out for non glass ornaments--Now we have a tabletop tree--No problems!--Will try to send you the pm, but I am really a computee retard :lol:

I do remember that the bottom of the tree tends to look a little bare by Christmas as I move the ornaments up high and higher.

We had a fake tree growwing up.....It was my mom or sister who would put it together......one branch at a time....

I just measured 7ft....boy that's really tall....maybe 6.5 w/a larger base would help it from tipping over.

Now a couple of you have mentioned a smaller tree placed strategically out of the "reach" of the kitties.....Maybe I'll look at those too.

very nice morning for Curry - so nice to see!

We've had an artificial one for several years now.... with no problems. Mannie is not a tree climber, nor are the civvies. He does however consider it his personal property, and stakes out his spot under the tree. HAHA: kind of like his nanner thing... no one is allowed to put anything in his spot. he just moves it. :lol: My DD has cats, artificial tree, and a climber. He likes to go halfway up and sleep in the branches. :shock: He's a big kitty, and they had to anchor their tree so it doesn't fall over when he climbs. Unfortunately (??) for them that meant strings tied from the center to another object closeby. Works, but does look a little odd... Have another friend who ended up suspending hers from the ceiling. :lol: :shock: funny, but it worked too. Good luck!

I use an artificial tree for my room (all pink, yes the bf loves that) and we get a real one. My cats always lie under the tree and bat at the ornaments but we've never had a problem with either. The artificial trees are quite good now.

This is just plain weird or maybe not. She's now eating over a 3 hour period and maybe she has another food spike at + 4 and then Mr. P decides to kick in some insulin to lower it for + 5 ??????

I gave her a little snack at +5 to see what she does w/that.

I love a real tree but haven't done one for several years. Even with all the cats I've had over the years, none of them ever tumped my tree over. Usually the monsters like to hide underneath and swat the ankles of anyone that walks too near. You can tell they think they are invisible under there. They are so funny. Hubz thinks they like to channel their ancient ancestors and play like they are back in the jungle, peering out between the branches. very entertaining. Even as kittens none of them ever tried to climb the tree. Ornaments however are fair game. So I tend to use those giant plastic ones for the bottom. And then when they are used like soccer balls, I don't get hysterical over it.

Kitties love Christmas, I love that about them.

Grazing/nibbling is good for Shadow's BG, but if I'm not here, one of the civvies raids Shadow's bowl; it just doesn't work out for us during the work week. Curry's numbers look so good. She has to be making some insulin - how else do you account for that 70. What a good girl, Curry.

We also went to an artificial tree because keeping the cats out of the water for the tree was a hassle. TIP: get a prelit one...it will make life so much easier!! We've never had tree climbing cats but this will be Tobey's first year and altho he's not as mischievous a kitten as Gracie...he does his share of exploring and climbing. We always have a little manger under the tree....we got it in Germany and it's very beautiful and made of, I think, acrylic. Anyway, GA Max taught Gracie how to rearrange it and so every morning we come in to see the tree and the sheep are in a different place and we have to do a wild hunt around the house for Baby Jesus who has been so carefully and lovingly removed from his cradle and taken elsewhere. Will be interesting to see if Gracie teaches this to Tobey!

Nice numbers for Curry and you need to put abys and xmas together NOT :lol: :lol: first year I started breeding we had kittens age about 3 months and I thought how am I going to decorate?? I am big on xmas have over 100 boxes of decor a lot of it antique anyway I knew there was no way aby kittens would be good around a tree but we tried it yeah not a good idea they knocked the entire 7 foot pine over thankfully no one got hurt after that my DH installed 2 screen doors inside our home I can still hear my oldest son telling be how tacky it was to put in screen doors on the inside but anyway now almost all my decorating is in my formal living room and dining room behind these doors since abys are by nature just get into it all cats. This year we plan to put the tree in the family room once again and most of my abys that will be around this tree should behave we shall see but it will be attached to the wall just in case.
