Simon seems to be jumping all over the place with his numbers. He was at a good place at +6 but jumped back up to 205 for PMPS. Do you think I need to stay at 1 unit or go up slightly since he has been at 1 unit for 3 days? I'll re-check at bedtime.

Re: 11/30 Simon AMPS 297

It took Do Lou over a month to get good about testing and it was his favorite treats I think that did it so just give it time I see you recently joined the board I know this is my first time in your condo I do understand the frustration since I gave up at first with home testing and do regret it now looking back. Hope Simon comes down to blue today for you ;-) and welcome to LL

Good morning guys ... sorry to hear about the struggling with testing ... we have never struggled with testing but shot time is completely different. I guess it is true every cat is different .. I hope it starts getting easier for you guys .. have a great day today!

This is a sunshiny yellow for Simon this morning! Here is the link to yesterday's condo: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30899
We like to link the previous condo to the first post of each day so all our threads are linked together. It helps to be able to click and see what transpired the day before!

We think that our kitties are more than just their BGs, so we use the 5 Ps to report on how they are feeling.
Purring, Peeing, Popping, Preening, Playing....you might see "All Ps in place today" or something like that in other condos.
That's our shorthand for telling everyone how our kitty is doing. My two 13 year olds don't play so much anymore so we usually get 4 Ps for the day. How is Simon feeling and how many Ps are present?

This is the 5th cycle on this 1.0u for Simon, right? Looking good so far!
A little Neopsorin on the ear helps to heal it a bit. But running away from the testing is something that is tough to deal with at first. It does get better though, so keep on keeping on! You are doing great!

Re: 11/30 Simon AMPS 297

I came home for lunch today and tested Simon. He is now at 80, down quite alot from this morning. Do you think he will drop much lower over the next 6 hours? I won't be home again until then and am a little worried. I fed him a little canned food after the test. He is acting well this morning, purring and is pretty active. He does seem to be drinking a little more water than he has been in the last 2 days. It is hard for me to tell how much he is peeing and pooping because I have another cat that shares the litter boxes. His urine used to be a fairly large amount and I don't see that in the boxes too much now, so I guess he is urinating less frequently or in smaller amounts.

Do I need to do anything to link my information to the condo? If so, can you tell me how to do that or is that something you do every day?

Georgia - just lurking and saw this.

Add to your subject line = 80 +6 Worried. Then submit. That should attract attention.

And since it didn't get answered, leave out some lo carb food so he can bring himself up if he should go low.

Re: 11/30 Simon AMPS 297 = 80 +6 Worried

Simon's bg at +6 was only 80, down from almost 300 in the AM. I will not be able to re-check until another 6 hours have gone by. Should I worry at all about the dramatic drop? I fed him a little canned Friskies (pate) after I tested him.

Re: 11/30 Simon AMPS 297

Here is where your BG data comes in VERY handy.
Over time, you gather info, testing at various times, and then eventually, you will start to see Simon's pattern.
You will see if he has a habit of dropping early and fast or if he takes his time. You will see things like how long does it take him to finally come down after his shots. You will see his nadir as well - it could be around +5 of +6 but it could be later, like my Oliver, around +10.

Look at his numbers and see if you can tell where his nadir falls usually. It could be that the 80 is not bad, and he may surf down in the awesome greens. That's your goal, yes? If he's not been so low before, then you may seem him bounce back high - that's pretty common, so don't be alarmed at that.
Dropping from 300 to 80 in 6hours is nice but something you can watch, just to be sure you don't see the drop keep going. If that drop had happened in say 3hours, I would say to watch very closely and test hourly, but that's just me. Others will have more to say.

From the few days of numbers on your ss, it looks like he's got a nicely filled shed since you have been on this dose for 3 days, yes? You should have all that extra shed from the 4u gone. It would be good if you could get another test and see where he is headed. It sure is looking like that dose of 4u was way too much!

You'll be able to tell more at his pmps, but for now, see if you can get him out from under the bed for one more poke before then.

If you ever have to go out but are worried about Simon going low, just leave out food because kitties are pretty good at eating when they are going low.
