This is a good AMPS with the Alpha Trak, as I don't yet have a feeder and left some wet food out for her, although I did withhold food for two hours before taking her bg. Hmmm...well, I slipped up last night and only got one bg as exhaustion took over from lack of sleep Sunday night. She's getting that little bump on her ear as she did the first time, so I'm trying other spots, but her little ear can be stuffborn if I change spots. All P's in place except lb still sluggish.

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126

Great AMPS for Maggie!

We have been using polysporin on Maverick's ear. He bleeds better at the very edge of the tip of his ear but we have to move it around a lot. We have to warm up his ear if its not the tip.

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126

You can also use some vaseline, which will help the blood drop to pool so it's easier to get on the stick.
Nice amps today!! Have a great Tuesday! :-D

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126

Good morning guys! What a nice amps .. I hope that maggie's ears heal up for you ... poor babe ... have a great day guys!

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126

Thanks Roni & Moonie on the vaseline tip. The Alpha Trak isn't always an easy swiper, as compared to the Relion.

Thanks Sienne on the Amps. We hope to hit green today!

Hi Mocha - yes Maggie hopes so, too, on the eara. She just found a new sighting - a beautiful gray, striped kitty that meows like a baby. She has to belong to a neighbor, as he/she looks so healthy. No tag though!

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126; +3 78

OMG, I wasn't expecting this 78 green bg! I was on my way out the door and thought I'd get a check - have an accupuncture appt. Maggie was a picky eater this morning, licking more juice than bulk. I think this current dose must be okay for now! If I leave enough of her current wet food, she should be okay. I normally don't get a chance to check her until +6, and then she's on the rise!

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126; +3 78

Nice amps for Maggie - and green too!

Mannie gets those bumps on his ear too. Neosporin helps, and I try to move the test spot around. Difficult when one spot always bleeds the best.

have a great day guys!

Re: 1/4 Maggie AMPS 126; +3 78; +6 87

Maggie surfed on her own in the greens while I was gone. I was wondering if I should do a dosecrease to a skinny .50 with getting one bg in the 70's and one in the 80's with the Alpha Trak?

Re: 1/4 Maggie +3 78; +6 87; +8 119; +9.5 114 - Question

Ann.. Maggie.. HI! #s look sooooo good, amazing how this is just a lil pancreas needin a lil insulin
Quick question & it may be none of my business.. but curious.. I know you say "with the Alpha Trak a lot (meaning blues may be greens) & not Relion.. why not just switch? I LOVE the Relion.. just curious about the Alpha Trak ;-)
Keep it on Maggie!!

Re: 1/4 Maggie +3 78; +6 87; +8 119; +9.5 114 - Question

nice.

I probably wouldn't reduce just yet, but of course it depends on your gut feeling and your ability to monitor. Usually when cats return from the Falls they need to work harder to earn their reductions, but you can always give it a try and see how she does. It might work, and if it doesn't then at least you'll know.

Hi Nicole,
Thanks for the encouragement on Maggie's numbers. Oh boy, I would love to switch to the Relion. The Alpha Trak reads about 20-30 points higher than the human meters depending on how high or low her bg. She would look so good if I used the Relion, and I would be more in syc with you guys. I think there's only one other person here who uses the Alpha Trak - I may be wrong! Anyway, to make a long story short, my Vet is interested in seeing Maggie Pie's weekly SS, and they use the Alpha Trak, or my meter is closest to theirs. I did take my Accu-chek Aviva in and compare it to theirs, and it was 30 points lower. I just have so much data on the Alpha Trak that I think I'd better keep it. I used to use both the Relion and Alpha Trak together and list the readings, but I was told gently it would be best to use one meter as it did get confusing. I did love the Relion meter, and it swipes the drop up so nicely. It's also much cheaper.

Thanks Libby. I tend to want want to rush to these reductions. She's been a picky eater today, and I wonder if that is bringing her numbers lower. I'll see what her number is closer to shot time.
