Happy Friday, everyone!!

I wasn't able to stay awake as long as I wanted to last night, so I didn't get as many numbers as I want. I swear I could sleep through an atom bomb on my medication! But his AMPS is lovely, isn't it? Today will be full of challenges. Trying out a new cake recipe (with the pressure on 'cause it's a paying job) and our dear television appears to have passed away late last night. :cry: Tragic..but I am optimistic nonetheless. Hopefully Chaos won't be so bouncy today so at least one thing goes smoothly! Have a great Friday, everyone!

Well, the cake got canceled, so that's off. Not good- I needed the work and was looking forward to the challenge. TV has been replaced by back-up TV. So my husband's slight hoarder tendencies have paid off. And Chaos... at 75 he is looking beautiful in green!

Any thoughts on a little wet food to help chaos surf? Kinda early in the cycle....

I was reading your notes on the ss and saw chaos is eating kibble (no lectures here...my latte ate kibble til the end unfortunately). Im just wondering if you are aiming to ween chaos off of it? Where you are at in the process? Just helpful with understanding some of the numbers, is the only reason Im asking. :mrgreen:

Carolyn: I gave Chaos some food (wet LC) after his +3 test, which is pretty routine. He gets 1/4 can at breffist, which he eats fairly quickly. Another 1/4 can at +3, which he grazes on until it's gone. Same routine at night. He only had kibble on 1/12 because his bean panicked over low numbers. Other than that, nothing but wet LC food since 1/09 so it is early days yet. No one is complaining that I took the kibble away, so the transition was super-easy. Both Chaos and my civie liked the wet food better anyway.

actually lol... I don't think I've ever completely explained Chaos's eating schedule/habits. Not enough WCR I guess. There are times I wish he'd do something interesting so I'd have an entertaining WCR, but the best I'm getting now is a happy kitty doing some interesting nappus positions. I swear his fur is getting softer, though. He always has a nice appetite, and I'm trying to get a pound or two off him. That prescription kibble really put the weight on him when he was eating it!

Our microwave passed away this morning. Shopping for a new one later today. :YMSIGH:

Thats a big drop. But we know you are watching - chaos' pancreas is loving the wet food so much it likes to keep you on your toes.

Ya, the kibble can plump up a cat! I have a foster who locked herself in a basement for about 8 months and free fed kibble. Lets just say she is now at weight loss (and love) camp with me. :lol: Once you get a handle on the FD stuff, take a look at Dr. Lisa's site about weight loss. Karrie and Maverick also have a good grasp on the safety of weight loss in cats.

Were you aiming for a +4.5 or 5? Hope Chaos surfs....but not too low!

The +5 is only 5 points lower. Chaos seems to be surfing right along. Food still available, so he can eat when he wants to. Poor baby...he's tired of all the testing but I got my game face on and he's not mad at me. In fact, he's stopped over to lie down next to me. cat_pet_icon It really surprised me that he doesn't hold a grudge over testing, especially since he's not really swayed by chicken crack or any other food incentive.

I'll look into the weight loss info. I'm currently using the kg/calorie formula and feeding the calories needed for what I feel is his ideal weight- 11-12 lbs. The more info I have, the better. He doesn't need to lose a ton, just a pound or two...he needs to look a little more svelte, you know? Sure, he'll never be suave and debonair with that demented expression he wears most of the time, but every little bit helps!

Hi Peter, Devon, and Mocha Jo! Yes, we're having a wonderful day, looks like. Got 63 at +6 and am wishing there was a 'kitty on a surfboard' smilie I could use here! party_cat There, that's appropriately festive.

Vampire Violet is on the rampage today, testing every hour up till now.. I think since we're not dropping any lower I might give him a little break, at least two hours. He's grazing on his food at the moment, purrfectly happy.

I gave his poor ears a three hour break and tested again at +9 and he's 218. That's not terrible, right? His nadirs have been nice the last few days, and it seems to go back up after +5 or +6. Hopefully this continues so that I can half-depend on it to be his pattern. He's just fine, as always. With the exception of the time leading up to his diagnosis last year, he has always been solidly healthy. I have high hopes for him.

The spreadsheet is the most helpful tool I could possibly have- I can't thank the original creator enough!

I guess this is the bounce I'm not supposed to be surprised about.. It's a good thing I put his bungee harness on him 'cause he's up to 300 at PMPS after such a nice green and blue day. Trust Chaos to be atypical with his PMPS higher than his AMPS so much of the time! The nadirs are so nice that I think 0.25u must be doing it for him, but these high PMPS numbers..argh!
 
Here we are at +4 with a 281. I am a little concerned because I wanted that number to go down, but a bounce was predicted so... meanwhile, Chaos is running dementedly through the house- one of his favorite activities when he's feeling energetic. I'm assuming he feels pretty good, whatever the number says lol! Fed him the second half of his PM food and he finished eating just before I tested him. Fingers crossed for better numbers in the AM.
 
What pretty numbers today for Chaos! He seems to be in a "go low during the day and bounce at night" pattern. At least you can sleep, and he clears the bounces quickly. (Anti-jinx....I hope Chaos isn't reading his condo tonight! :lol: ) He's doing good!
