Back to the high numbers this morning. We tested him last night before bed and they were dropping, so it wasn't a fur shot. Going to try to get more tests in during the day to see what's going on..

Getting in more tests will tell you whats going on. There are some kitties that bounce from a lower number to a high number especially early on. Liver training school I believe. Happy Monday.

Re: 1/31 Fiefel AMPS 439

What you're seeing this morning is a bounce. You don't know how much further Feifel dropped last night. When a cat drops into low numbers and/or drops fast, the liver panics and dumps a stored form of glucose and counterregulatory hormones into the bloodstream. It's a protective mechanism that causes numbers to spike up high. It can take up to 72 hours for a bounce to clear. The only way you will know how quickly the bounce is clearing is to get spot checks.

Love the photo as well!!

Will try to get in more spot checks. It has been more difficult lately to do the tests - his ears don't seem to want to cooperate after lots of testing, but I will be sure to get in more tests when possible so we can get more data..

Certainly must be a good thing I started working with FDMB - when I saw my vet last Monday, she suggested a dose increase to 1.5u... as we are now at .5u and Fifel is still dropping quite low..

Re: 1/31 Fiefel AMPS 439

In the beginning warming Maverick's ear with a sock filled with some rice and microwaved until just warm really helped. I'd pet him all over with the sock, not just his ear. He loved the attention. A warm ear bled much easier in the beginning especially.

At +3 we were at 244.. seems like a big drop? My bf should be able to do another test in an hour..

We do use the rice sock - it definitely does help! Fiefel doesn't mind too much most days, unless he's super anxious for dinner, or if I'm not doing to well with the testing and have to poke a couple times, then he gets a bit frisky.
