2/20 Tori AMPS 113;PMPS 228 CPFlare Update

Well it looks like Tori is having another one of her CP flares with some constipation thrown in for good measure. After a couple of days of being rather subdued and just not being quite herself she decided to show me in her own unsubtle way how lousy she was feeling and pooped on the mat in my room. The stool was quite hard and there was a tiny bit of blood on the outside of it. She ate a poor lunch so I decided to give her some Metacop an hour before supper. She had to be finger fed. So I decided to treat her as a CP flare with the usual regime of Pepcid, Metacop, Buorenex and squids. I gave her a bit of Miralax as well. Daniel kept a good eye on her during the night and her numbers ranged from 176 at +2 to 104 at +8. She ate a1/2 can of FF for him. Of course I spent an anxious night at work worrying about her.

This morning when I got home I found that someone had brought up a couple of humongous hairballs. Tori was no where in sight and I started to get panicky. Then she started coming up the stairs from the litter box. I was so relieved. She actually looks quite a bit better this morning. After giving the Metacop and waiting a 1/2 hour she ate about a 1/2 can of FF on her own. I thought for a few minutes that she wasn't going to keep it down as she was wretching a bit but so far so good. She looks more herself today as well. So my plan is to continue treating her as a CP flare. Hopefully this is going to be a mild one. I'll be checking her sugars every couple of hours at least depending on how things go. I'm planning to give her fluids this afternoon so their action won't peak in the middle of the night. Some sleep between checks would be nice too.

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday. My prayers go out to those kitties who aren't feeling well and their Beans.

Well she's 248 at +2. Quite the food spike. She was walking around with Socrates in her mouth a few minutes ago. I think I'm good to go to bed for awhile. Will check in later.

I slept through what was going to be the +4 check. She wasn't interested in lunch at all. SHe looks real punky again. I managed to get some FF into her by finger feeding her. She hated it and so did I. Syringe feeding with her goes even worse. That is the one thing that this kitty won't let me do with her. I have some squids warming up right now to give to her. Hopefully that will help perk her up a bit. Lord I hate it when she gets like this. It seems every month now she has a flare. Poor little baby. I feel so bad for her. If you have a chance say a prayer for her OK?

Hi Barb - I hope too that this is a small flare and that all will be well soon. you are so good with her, really. What a team you two make. I am glad you caught it early, and know what to do to treat at home. Feel better Tori, OK? We all worry about you.

Aww Tori, please feel better. When I read all her problems today I started to have a sympathy tummy ache. Good thing I didn't cough up a hairball.

I hope her flare is a short one. You take such great care of sweet Tori.

Hi Barb, We're sending some beautiful healing vines to Tori to make her feel better. Maybe she has another hairball to get out of her system. In any event, I hope that the flair will not be bad and that your sweet kitty will be feeling herself again very soon.
Rusty is at the OTJ party for Morpheus tonight and I hope that Tori decided to take Mannie up on his offer to pick her up and that she is there, too. Nothing like party food!!

Poor Tori she sure isn't feeling well at all. I gave her fluids at around +7 hoping that that would perk her up a bit. It hasn't. She hasn't vomited at all which is good. She had Metacop an hour before I tried to feed her but that really didn't help. She refused to eat on her own at supper -no matter what I tried to give her. She fought me when I tried to finger feed her. Fortunately my son's girlfriend Kina is an old pro at syringe feeding. She had to feed her pitbull that way for months. Anyway she got about 40cc of FF gruel down her and it has stayed down so far. They will continue to monitor her sugars and try and feed her throughout the night.

I think though if she isn't feeling better by morning I will have to take her into the emerg vets. Tomorrow is a holiday here_Family Day so my vet is closed. I'm beginning to wonder if there is something else going on. At the moment though she seems to be stable.

Please say a prayer that she improves overnight. I just wish I didn't have to go to work tonight. At least she's in good hands with Daniel and KIna.
