Morning Lantus Land,

What a rough start to my morning!!! First we camped out in the family room because Gary was so noisy the other night. I set the alarm on my phone only to be awoken by the alarm and still be an hour behind!!! Who knew you had to turn off the phone to get it to reset for DST. No time for coffee...

So Attie's shot was an hour late, plus Gary's vetty appt. was in an hour...and look the kibble is completely empty this morning!!! Attie...

Feed, shoot, and get dressed...catch Gary and put in carrier for half hour drive to new vet. As I am driving over to the vet I realize I didn't "test" before shooting! ohmygod_smile Well, the little guy has an hour off schedule and kibble on board...he is most likely OK. That sort of is comforting....

Gary's new vettie is AWSOME and I will be switching everybody over to Dr. Nappier at the Westlake Animal Hospital!!! They even let you watch the surgeries!!!! No mysterious backroom!!! Gary though is still pretty sick. URI it seems with a temp. of 105.6F. And yes he sneezed nicely for the Dr. The Dr. even let Gary view and sniff each instrument before he used it on him....how crazy is that!

Gary was pretty good until we wanted to pick him up and put on the scale. Then he got pretty scared and I got a couple of scratches in the palm of my hand. I think he scared the vet tech pretty good though . No surgeries or vaccinations today...again, too sick. He did get a shot of convenia though :? . Not sure I made the right decision, but dosing Gary otherwise I've had to be creative...so... :?: What's done is done...

Got home and finally tested Attie...not bad for a kibbie raid number. Spoke with Dr. regarding Attie too. Seems supportive and kind of impressed with the level of awareness and hometesting too. Write the scripts anyway I want them etc. He suggested if we keep Gary to vaccinate the other two for FIV.

Group thoughts, as I know the vaccine doesn't protect against all forms of the FIV virus?

He also said that they can catch it through long, prolonged contact of food, water, and litter boxes....difficult to transmit that way...but it has to do with prolonged exposure. Again, thoughts...?

Yesterday's condo: viewtopi ... =9&t=38867

Ugh...google is really getting on my nerves.... LOAD DARN IT!

Looks like Attie is on his way down...why can't his timing be for this stuff be during the day....

Gary is awfully noisy for a sick kitty. Poor guy he is flattening his ears every time I go in his room. I even gave him a few bribes...yeah...he's not happy with me right at the moment. At least this time he isn't hiding under the bed. He is just sitting in his tree acting mad.

sorry Gary is sick. I don't know much about FIV. I know Diahann's Noisy was FIV+ and lived to be over 20. I'm fairly sure he was integrated with at least some of her other cats. I wouldn't think it would be too easy to transmit to other cats, though I'm sure it's possible.

The major means of transmission is fighting and bite wounds.

I've read some folks say as long as everybody gets along...their fine.

Plus in my home food is separate, number of litter boxes to use that are cleaned twice daily...

So the more I am learning the more I am leaning that if Gary wants to try and be a housecat or indoor/out cat we might be fine.

Hi guys. Looking good Attie, even for having come kibble on board. I had a minor chuckle over the shoot with no test this AM - done that too...

Poor Gary - one sick little guy. I know on the covnenia.... but trying to pill him- I wonder how well that would go over. On the FIV thing. I adopted a cat from a friend - had him with us for 5 years. Come to find out after having him for 5 months he was FIV positive. I had at the time 5 cats including him - shared water food, and LB - no transmission to the others, and they shared everything, until he finally went to the bridge at the age of 20, which was not FIV related. Hopefully it will be the same for you I know bites and fighting are the main means of transmission. We had no problems having a FIV in our midst. Maybe we were lucky - not sure...

Thanks for the input. I hear Gary in the foster room trying to sing...and then sneeze fits....

Attie and MudCat are window watching something in the garden....

I-) I-) I-)
