I guess Milo's ketone levels are now reading trace, but the vet is concerned that Milo is still really dehydrated and not eating. They put him on a catheter to pump more fluids in him and recommended I hospitalize him tonight. I decided to being him home instead and do a couple more rounds of the sub-q fluids and then take him back to the vet tomorrow to get back on the catheter. besides the costs of hospitalizing him, I just don't trust them monitoring his BG like I would. Plus Milo get stressed out as it is at the vet, I am afraid the stress alone might not really help us here. Hopefully I made the right call. I will be syrnge feeding him again tonight. It was suggested I should try wellness can food instead of the baby food. The jars I have do say there is 100 calories per jar. I have been feeding two jars a day- one morning and one at night.

Kelly -

Baby food isn't complete nutritionally for a cat. Could you blend some baby food and Wellness together? If you add a little water or broth to thin the combo down you should be able to syringe feed it.

haven't really followed your thread only know that Milo has not been well....but i think mini meals throughout the day is better than the big meals in the am and pm time....if you have tuna water to add to the food to blend in just in case you don't have chicken broth handy...that works too and it's smelly for them to get them wanting to eat...just a thought....

Ahhh - sorry. I didn't realize you were feeding two jars in 24 hours. Not just one. My mistake.

Sending lots of hugs and healing vines for Milo.

Healing vines are on the way for Milo. I hope the watered-down Wellness + baby food will help. I'm sure that you have everything under control at home, Kelly, and have made the right decision. A stressed-out kitty isn't good!!
Get better, Milo! Hang in there, Kelly!

I hope Milo is able to recover at home with you! Good luck tonight with the feeding and fluids. I hope he's feeling lots better really soon. Healing vines coming your way...

Hey Kellly: I also think if it is not a emergency situation, they are much better off at home. I hope he will let you assist feed without too many problems. Sending more healing vines for Milo.
