Guinness tested at a 351 this am. Since I had been shooting a slightly heavy 2.0 for the last 6 cycles and since his numbers never really got any lower than a high 200, I decided to bump his dose to 2.5. I'm aware protocol here is generally to increase dose in .25 increments, but I felt he was at the 2+ for too long and was again not responding and felt this dose would be, hopefully, more beneficial than the 2.25. I will be home all morning to monitor, plus we are off to the vet at 9am, so I'm sure that will keep his numbers high. Hopefully, I will come home with some idea of what might be going on with him, what might have pulled him out of remission and if we can get his BG under control.
I will not be taking my spreadsheet to my vet this am. She's seen my spreadsheet and is generally supportive (add eye roll here, hers not mine). She knows that basically no matter what she tells me, I am the type of person who will do what I want with my cat. Not give him sugar-ladened antibiotics, not start the prozac, give the amounts of insulin I want to give, etc. She's been through a lot with my kitties, and has trusted me to do a lot of home care in the past. I'm just hoping I come back with some sound information regarding his possible hyper-t and where to go from here.
Oh yeah, and good morning to all my new friends here at Lantus. Thanks for checking in on us. Have a great day!
