I can only offer you hugs, Barb.

He'll be okay.

Breathe.

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

Thanks Dyana.
I just don't know what to shoot.......no one will be here all day and he's been low lately.

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

I would imagine that since his numbers aren't usually that high that he would start getting it out of his system over the course of the day. Your daughter can check on him when she arrives. At least you know it was the kibble that was the main culprit here. And he probably is thanking you for the tasty treats last night.

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

Barb, I can't really answer your questions but just wanted to give you support and prayers for your surgery. I don't think I would shoot your regular dose but a tiny amount sounds good to me. Hopefully, a few others will come on in a few minutes that can give advice. I'm so sorry you are having to stress about this right before your surgery.

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

Going down. 388 @7:30
I'm so afraid that even a tiny amount will make him drop after the kibble wears off
DD wont be here intil evening, I dont know when she will be leaving hospital

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

barb, just let him be. skip the shot. the dry food will begin to work it's way out of his system today and he'll begin to come down. he'll probably be shootable for your DD tonight.

don't worry. go have your surgery and we'll see you in a couple of days.
feel the love and good wishes we're all sending your way...

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

Barb, your dose looks like it has been 1-2 drops lately? If I were in your shoes, I'd shoot the 1 drop. I know when Willie was on those under .25 doses, folks told me not to worry as with a dose that low, there is virtually no risk of hypo. A micro dose would get some juice in Checkers system and help him clear the kibble bounce more quickly. Hope that helps!

Thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery today with quick healing!

Re: 6/3 Checkers help me please

Barb: You have 3 choices, you can skip the shot. You can give a BCS dose or shoot the normal amount. I am not comfortable telling you to shoot the normal dose. Hopefully someone else will weigh in before you need to shoot. If you BCS, it would keep something in the shed. I would shoot .5. The high is probably from the dry snacking he did. I'm running out the door. Hope this helped. Good luck today for you and Checkers. Have your DD check as soon as she gets home to see where Checkers is headed.

Barb, I would skip. The kibble will clear on its own. Look at your SS, other times when he has gotten kibble, he comes down pretty quickly. If you give insulin, will you be worried about him going too low? If yes, then let it be and don't worry. Better to be too high than too low. He will be fine!

I hope your surgery goes flawlessly, and you are pain-free quickly! Please have your DD update us when she can.

I'm with the skip the shot group. You don't need to worry. Checks will be fine once the kibble wears off.

Update about you when you're able.

Checks will be OK. I would skip too - you can and not worry then - he's been there before, and will be fine. Many hugs here, and good luck - all will be well.

Hi Barb, I missed you this early morning, too. I think that whatever you wound up doing, Checkers will be fine. Wishing you a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Checkers? Kibble? Really?

I'm sure everything will be fine with your boy and that kibble will work itself outta his system.

Good luck with your surgery and sending you healing vibes (((((Barb)))))

Checks will be just fine, you know it was from kibble and he was coming down right away. DD will take good care of him, concentrate on healing Prayers or a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.
