Hi Bruce, lovely blue AMPS! Nice shooting! It's your lowest PS, so please start out with a +1 and +2.

Hey, don't kick yourself....I always say, there are no mistakes, only opportunities to collect data! By stalling, you got some data that will help you next time. It's all good!

There are some posts and stickies that will help you for the next time...Libby's post on Dealing with Low Preshots and the Data Ready sticky (particularly the bottom section). Of course, ask questions if something isn't clear.

Good morning Laurie, and thanks. Certainly Simon's best 24 hours in a long time!
I know it's early days, but I'm really encouraged. Greens, blues and yellows sure beats greens, blues, yellows, pinks, reds, and even black!

164 @+2, must just be kicking in.

simon looks to be a model using lantus! you've had a great first day - let's hope it stays that way.

so this must be a significantly different response than you were having using the other insulin?

Maybe a +4 would be good, fill in some spots on the SS and see how fast he's moving down.

He got a good response to Canninsulin, it just doesn't have enough duration, so it pooped out and he zoomed up. That roller coaster couldn't feel very good. Lantus is a far better insulin for cats...their metabolism is too fast for the shorter acting insulins.

Thanks, yes the Lantus sure seems to agree with Simon. Like Laurie said, the caninsulin was effective, but to achieve anything
even approaching regulation (or tight!) you'd be shooting 3 times a day. Steeeep drop, negligible plateau, and you're
back where you started anywhere after +8. I will say it certainly seemed predictable; Simon would peak at +4, and it was
all uphill (and quickly) after :smile:

Hi! Lantus provides a much gentler curve than the other insulins..longer acting, and easier to control.
Simon is getting great numbers right Now!! You are doing great--
Just remember, You are in Control if you have your meter & strips, LC,MC & HC foods, karo syrup(just in case) honey or maple syrup also works in case of steep drops in bg, and you have us!!
So far so good,,Ask questions, read the Stickys, and monitor often..You are doing great!

Great start for Simon and the Lantus certainly looks like it agrees with him. Looking fabulous! Simon says to tell your Simon hi from him!
