Sorry I wasnt around today, but last night I had some of the most intense pain in my tummy --I was up all night, so around 6am I called my gastro & he told me to go to hospital for tests--DH & I went at 8 am, got out at 3 pm, after I had bloods, X rays, cat scan, & sonograms...OMG we almost lost our minds there!
I was terrified the whole time, but one test after another came back OK, till the cat scan--
I have had a Diverticulitis attack, & have infection in there!--Once some DR told me I had the osis, but not the itis!! @-) @-) @-)
I am home & am fine with 2 AB's to take--Flagyl & Cipro...
AND WAS I WORRIED ABOUT MYSELF ALL DAY???? NO--I WAS WORRIED ABOUT MY MOONIE--EVEN LEFT A SYRINGE MARKED IN CASE DH HAD TO USE IT-Yes I felt that bad!
But I am going to rip into my delicious Jello, Broth & pudding dinner :cry: :cry: :cry:

OMG Roni, diverticulitis is SOOOOO painful!!!! Ask me how I know. All the same tests. Same diagnosis.
Same medication. I will always have the 'osis', but with careful eating, I hope to never again have the 'itis'.
I love the way you describe the difference. :-D

I'm so glad you went to the ER when you did. My hubby's burst, and I won't even tell what he went through for he entire summer, after the surgery.

ps, don't forget the yummy applesauce :-D

Roni, so sorry to hear you have diverticulitis. Glad you went to the ER and had it diagnosed. That was a long time in the ER! It sounds like they were very thorough. My sister has it, and she says it is extremely painful. Sending some hugs and feel better vines and prayers. I hope you can calm down and get some rest tonight.

wow, glad you're doing better.

not to be a worrywart or nervous nellie, but do a search on the cipro before you take more than a day's worth or so. my friend is convinced it ruined her husband's health - just a beware on it. i think it's a bit like the metacam - docs have been prescribing it and it's in use, but if you are sensitive and have side effects it could be terrible.

so sweet that you were worried about Moonie. and it looks like moonie did ok today! hugs! take care of yourself.

eta: i'm going to send you a pm of an email that my friend sent me. my father-in-law took cipro 2 weeks ago while traveling in guatemala, and not the first time, and my friend nearly had an attack when i told her. so anyway, i'll send you what she sent me about her husband's experience.

Why am I not surprised that you made sure that Moonie would be OK? (I'm surprised Moonie didn't come along for the adventure!)

Roni, so sorry to hear about the diverticulitis. My mom has that and I know it is pretty painful. I'm glad they were able to figure out what it was. Please take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. Hope the meds help really soon. Of course you worried about Moonie -- we all understand totally what that is all about. Take care and have a restful (paws and fingers crossed) night.

I'm glad all tests are done and you are taking the medications you need. osis and itis are very common in my family. One word: LOW FIBER. :?

Oh my goodness! My friend has it and I hear it's incredibly painful. I hope you didn't have to wait in the ER long. Sometimes they take forever before you're able to see someone.

On another note, my mom had horrible food poisoning last year and they also gave her flagyl and cipro. She doubled up with so much pain from the flagyl that we had to go to the ER a second time around and they took her off of it. Sending you healing vines that you'll be able to handle it better!

Hey Roni, You landed in the ER?! Wow. I'm glad that you decided to go and that the diagnosis was a common--if painful--condition. Please get lots of rest and take good care of yourself. Don't forget to eat yogurt with active cultures if you are taking antibiotics. Perhaps you could sprinkle some FortiFlora on your jello. The kitties really like it and you might too.

Moonie did fine while you had your adventure. She's such a good girl. Send her to Checkers' party tonight in her beautiful green dress. Rusty will pick her up. He's cooking venison stew.

Big hugs for you tonight, Roni! So sorry that you are in pain... I hope the meds kick in quickly and have you feeling better soon! Love that you made sure Moonie was well taken care of. Am wondering if humans come home from the ER with "vetty smell" and if we need to send you the KTSS (complete with a Tobey massage!) to fix that pronto!

Oh Roni! I have heard that is so painful. I'm so glad you got it checked out and have meds to help. Get some rest and take care of yourself. I'm sure Moonie will take care of you when the party is over.

Thanks all my Dears for the kind words--I am OK & am taking it one day at a time--I have taken Cipro before & was OK!
Of course I have the busiest weekend of all time coming--Readings party tomorrow nite, show on Saturday in a nice park--Sunday big show in Park Slope, Brooklyn--I better pack a lot of Jello ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile :lol:
No seriously, I have a really busy weekend..Hope this finds you all well & happy..
I will heal & I will listen to the doctors...WW makes you eat a lot of fruit, & I Have been--berries galore, could have been the spark!--Any way, I am headed to bed Moonie is waiting, hope you all have sweet dreams, calm sleepus, and well being--Sandy I am so thinking of you!!

Roni, i missed this last night (well, I missed everything last night :oops: ) I hope you are feeling better today and that the meds have kicked in. take care of yourself first, busy weekend second! Oops, Ok Moonie first! :lol:
