6/18 Junior AMPS 101 +5 66 +10 81 PMPS 105

Good morning LL!

I was folding laundry just now when I noticed that it was taking more time than usual for Junior to clean himself. I don't know how to describe this delicately but let's just say that there was a piece that was still stuck down there with hair coming out of it. Then I saw a piece on the kitchen floor with hair wrapped around it too. I've never seen anything like this before.

Has anyone experienced this type of poop and should I be worried?

What a great start for junior! Wonderful amps!

Mannie has on occasion had fur stuck too. It never seems to distress him, just takes him awhile to take care of it. I don't think it is of concern. I've just helped clean him up (much to his dismay), and he's been fine.

It could be that Junior is passing swallowed hair in his stool instead of coughing up a hairball. Champ's never had a hairball and I've never seen him pass hair before, but I know it can happen...I'm just not sure if it's a concern or not. Hopefully, someone else will know!!

this happens occasionally with frenchie if he chows down on a piece of my hair (or a few pieces of my hair) in addition to his.

we used petroleum jelly to help him pass hair and keep down hairballs (he has very few, and the petroleum helps).

no big deal unless it becomes really frequent or causes pain and constipation- then have a little chat with the vet...

I love to talk about cat poo!!. Gordo had the same problem the other day. Like Junior, the hairball came out of the wrong end :lol: :lol: :lol:

I use Vaseline too. Brush and Vaseline.

oh cat poo condos.

seriously i never paid this much attention to what went in or what came out until he was diabetic. i wonder if normal cat people pay this much attention, then i just remember, nope, nope they dont. it's just us, and the cat poop.

IMO Junior is just passing hair that he has ingested while grooming. I don't think it should be a problem. Either they pass it like that or have a hairball. Unless he develops problems I wouldn't worry about it. When you think about it whether the cat is long or short haired they shed a lot of hair daily and love to groom so it has to go somewhere.

I'm always up for a good poop discussion too. :lol: Have a nice rest of the weekend.

The only thing I noticed before Enana became diabetic is that each cat had a different spot to poo in the LB. That's about all the knowledge I had about their bowel movements! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Gizmo is a long hair and has had a "klingon" on occasion. I especially like when I find a piece of poop (preferably a dried piece of poop) where I least expect it -- like on my oriental rug in the living room.

Poo: It sounds like everyone is understanding that the hair was HIS hair. When I read your post, I assumed you meant there was hair in his poo, AND that some poo got stuck to his hair? My cat(s) are medium hair, and sometimes, get a softer poo that clings. On the other hand, they also had hard-as-rock poos that cost an arm and a leg to extract at the ER. So, I supplement with 1/4 tsp of mirilax and 1/4 tsp of oat bran in the food.

THEN, there's the 'poop-on-a-rope' phenomenon, when they scoot b/c the poo is formed around some of MY hair that they ingested. Seeing one piece of poo dangling from the rear is frightening b/c you know if you don't get to it in time, it'll be smeared all across your floors. That's fun, too. I have a special pair of scissors just to take care of this problem.

Never in my life did I ever think I'd ever have such an informative conversation on cat poop with anyone. And I really don't know what to say!

Seriously, I thought I was going to yak when I first saw it because it looked like the Cowardly Lion sticking out of his butt. I'm relieved to hear that it's normal and come to think of it, he hasn't thrown up a hairball in awhile. I'll definitely try petroleum jelly to help the poor fella out.
