QUESTION: Should I increase the dose?

Well, let's talk...

When does the current dose reach it's peak (nadir)?

How low has the current dose taken kitty over the last 72 - 96 hours?

What? You don't know when your kitty reaches nadir on this dose?

You don't know how low the current dose is taking your kitty?

ANSWER: Nadir checks will provide the answer.
It's your job to find out how low the current dose is dropping kitty before increasing the dose.

Once you know your kitty's nadir over the last several days/nights, you'll know if an increase is needed. If you don't know how low the current dose is taking your cat you run the risk of your cat becoming over dose as well as experiencing a hypoglycemic event... not what any of us wants to happen. So, please recognize the importance of getting those nadir checks (day & night) BEFORE you increase the dose.

Make sense? :D

My understanding.
Nadir checks are those hours between shots. Could be anytime during those 12 hours.
Nadir means bottom of the numbers. The very bottom of the bottom. Bit hard to find to start with but it is possible to know when your own cat will do this if you prick the ears often enough during a 12 hour stint or two. Could be early in the 12 hours between shots and it could be later.

Those nadir numbers are not just about dose increases but also dose decreases. Something it took me a while to cotton on to. At the start I thought it was all about the before shot numbers. Keep safe and all that. It isn't so much so, although it certainly counts to keep safe. It is about those mid range numbers. It is those mid range low numbers that really say how the cat's body metabolism is adjusting and working. Make the dose or feed the food on those lowest numbers.

Thoughts though to all those that cannot do this for work or other commitments reasons. Then you do what you can as you can & hopefully whatever can be done will help. What we all do know is doing nothing at all does not help so -- it all helps.

I'm getting there but it takes some understanding.

This is my bump. If I have talked grubbage. This is fine. Listening and learning is always to the good of the pusscats.

I just asked the same question in my condo as I very rarely can get nadir. Only one day a week is my window for this. And mostly that curve day he is bouncing and therefore unreliable for his low the dose is taking him. I do not know that to do.

It's hard when you're at work and can't get those nadirs! I know that Girlie often has different AM and PM nadirs, just to make it all interesting. Still, we can only do the best that we can.... :-)

Bump!!!

Max would drop low at night more often than during the day. My surprises were usually at amps. I know it’s hard but I would set alarms to get those night nadirs when you can’t catch them during the day. JMHO.

Not at all possible when you have to be up at 5:45 am and don’t keep good health. One disturbed sleep and I’m set back for days.

I'm with you there. I've seriously compromised my health in the past few months and am now trying to get myself back on track. So hard, though, when you want to monitor closely! Sigh...

I set alarm last night as I wasnt working today - didnt produce much of anything - a high pink. Went back to bed at midnight and tossed and turned until his AMPS at 6am. Wasnt worth the disturbed sleep. Am exhausted now and going back to bed!
