Hello everyone,

Sylvan's staying pretty steady. I'm hoping he'll come down a little more today.

We are starting to have some behavior issues with Sylvan. I know it's just because he isn't feeling well, but it concerns me.

The last couple of weeks, he's been biting at us when we pick him up and certain times when we pet him. Yesterday, he was stressed because a strange cat showed up on our deck. He sort of freaked out, as did our other 2 cats. An hour later, it was a little difficult getting his blood. He kept biting at me. When my DH came home, he went to say hello to Sylvan as he usually does, Sylvan gave a weird howl and attacked him. Biting and scratching. This is so unlike Sylvan, he's usually the most lovable, cuddle cat. It breaks my heart. This morning, DH went to test him, and he went to bite him again and he wasn't able to get a test. Later, I was able to get his AMPS and seems okay now. I'm hoping this is only temporary, and once his numbers improve he'll be his old self again.

Thanks,
Liz and Sylvan

Sylvan seem to be having nice stable numbers, it would be nice to get him down some, although the shed is still filling from the last increase. I hope you see some action from it soon.

When was the last time Sylvan went to the vet? That reaction to being touched may be a sign of pain. Anything else out of the ordinary?

Thanks Ann!

I was worried something else might be going on with him too. He was last at the vet in late February. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary, other than him looking/acting so frail. Maybe that is putting him on the defensive?

Our other 2 civie cats have a vet appointment on Monday. They've been a bit neglected since Sylvan got his diagnosis  .

But I may bring Sylvan along as well, or at least get her take on what might be going on with him.

Thanks again!

Hi Jill,

It turns out, my vet is on vacation until Monday. My other 2 cats have an appointment then, and depending on how Sylvan's doing, I may bring him too.

I think this strange cat visitor, as sweet as he looks, is playing havoc on the fragile balance of a 3 male cat household. Malachi (our civie) has started spraying in the house. I didn't even know he knew how to do that. And the 3 of them started fighting each other.

But today things are much calmer and Sylvan's behavior has improved. No biting, hissing or growling. Yay!

Thanks!
Liz and Sylvan

Sending tons of healing vines for Sylvan, and I wish him to make a full and speedy recovery.

It could be stress that's making him lash out, plus the combination of not feeling great. However, a vet check would help if you can.
