Morning LL, [I'm just squeeking by on that one ya know :smile: ]

7/18 condo

WCR Sara is doing ok but she's not feeling well. I had brought her into the vet last week because her eyes [mostly one] were running. Her ears were scabby on the inner flap and she had this weird chin stuff too. The CBC came back and the #'s were great. bg of 88. Vet was surprised about that her being a diabetic. Her vet wasn't in so had to see a different one. Not impressed. :-| She couldn't get a C&S so I had to take it at home. I don't trust them, but I did it. Came back with bacteria so vet said she has a UI. Put her on Clavamox. Actually she was trying to push the shot but I didn't bite. Don't know how Sara would react to it. Her eyes seemed to clear up at first. Now they are back to running and her ears are a mess. Inner flap has crusty red stuff and even outer on one ear is losing hair and red and crusty.

I had to take her on vacation with me to the beach this weekend. She slept a lot and didn't leave her carrier much. She has been eating and using the LB though. I am calling tomorrow for an appointment. I haven't been bothering her for sc's much, but am making sure she eats.

I'll let you know how I make out. Hope her regular vet is in. I'm worried.

I hope her regular vet is in for you, and you get this crusty stuff and runny eye all cleared up real soon.

Hi Jan, I'm so sorry to hear that Sara is still suffering from the crusty sores. I do hope you can get to see your regular vet this week. Is she scratching? She may be re-infecting her skin "thing" every time she scratches. The runny eye might even be related? In any event, if bacteria came back in the urine test that might be owing to the fact that it was not done as a C & S. The bacteria could have come from anywhere in the urine-collecting process. But now that Sara is taking the Clavamox, you won't know for sure. It's good that you refused the Convenia shot!

We're sending a beautiful bouquet of healing vines to Sara and hope that you will get some answers from your regular vet.

Thanks Ella and Dyana. I believe that everything is related. She is not scratching that I have noticed. Just laying around even more than usual. Paws crossed for her regular vet being in tomorrow. I don't want to waste my time with the one that I had. Because her bg was 88 she was cautioning me about her going to low. Which in itself is good, but she has no idea.

agree with urine. a c&s has to be sterile and that is with a needle aspiration. never get the convenia shot for infections. cats have died from this. ECID. it is being overly used and wrong by vets. search convenia and see what dr. lisa has to say about it.
the chin (have not looked at pics) could be chin acne from plastic bowls. since on AB, try cleaning with saline solution
ears, could be mites

Have you read about rodent ulcer? It can affect the mouth just like Sara's and possibly the ears. I haven't read about it on the ears but just googled it with "ears" in the search and some responses came back.
Wishing she starts getting back to herself and recovers quickly. Hugs.
