Good Sunday Morning, Everyone,

Sending healing vines and prayers to Rocket & Claudia and to Sara & Jan. Thinking good thoughts for Moonie's vet appointment later this week.

It's another beautiful day here. Rusty is about where he was last night at bedtime, so I guess if it was another fur shot, it was just a partial one. Now, to try to get down to "normal". I'm not too sure about his shot this morning. He growled (he almost always does this, even when the syringe is nowhere near him!) and pulled back just as I inserted the needle. I didn't smell Lev., but thought I felt slight dampness. Edward didn't smell Lev. Fingers crossed!! Thanks to everyone for empathy yesterday.

Today we must do some yard work. The place looks like a northern jungle.

Enjoy the day,

Ella & Rusty

You know, I usually smell the insulin on Jesse's fur after I've shot. It's because when I squirt some out to get the exact dose, there always seems to be some that dribbles down the outside of the needle.

Rusty, no growlin', okay? :-D

Re: 7/31 Rusty AMPS 176

That's a very nice AMPS for Rusty, now come back down into some of those nice greens again Rusty!!

Leo is a growler too, if i shoot while he's eating. I've started shooting just after his test, while he's a purry and happy after eating his chicken treats.....and now he doesn't even notice!!

Have fun in your northern jungle!

Re: 7/31 Rusty AMPS 176

Back down to your good numbers Rusty. Don't frustrate your bean.

Do you keep him distracted while you shoot? I have to wait until Tess is really chowing into her food, before i shoot. Then she pays no attention. But if I try to shoot without food, forget it.! ohmygod_smile

Carolyn, I slip a tiny piece of paper towel over the needle before I squeeze out the extra juice. I absorbs it , I toss it and no insulin smell on Tess's fur.

Re: 7/31 Rusty AMPS 176

Come on, Rusty, give your mamabean a super-de-super nice day, please!!!

Good luck with the yard work!!! I'd help if I was there....I love that kind of stuff!

Re: 7/31 Rusty AMPS 176, +5.5 130, +9.5 88

Hi again, Everyone,

Thanks for the tips Ann & Carolyn. I do shoot while he is eating away (I put his food down first and then get out the syringe and insulin, fill it, etc. Fortunately he loves to eat and growls at the syringe while he is eating!), I shoot the extra into a paper towel, too, but I will try using just a little piece of towel as a wrap next time). Anyway, it looks like we had a good shot this morning. He's back in GREEN!! And Edward and I just got in from tackling all the green in our garden. Now it looks a little less overgrown.

Going to take Rusty outside now. Back later.

p.s. I forgot to mention yesterday that we saw 2 loon families on our paddle, each with 2 chicks. One set of chicks was older and the parents were teaching them to dive. The other set were still mostly riding on the parents' backs. It is fascinating to listen to loons talking to their chicks, such wonderful, soft noises. (Quite a contrast from their loon calls.)

Yea!!!! Rusty is back in GREEN!!

How cool on the loons! We always listened fo them on our canoe trips in the BWCA.

Yep, Rusty is back to Rusty numbers! No fur shots today, and apparently only 1 yesterday. Rusty is heading out to the Green Lagoon.

Ni ni everyone,

Ella & Rusty

How great are those numbers late today and tonight!!!! Nice flat green!! Go Rusty.

Hope you enjoyed your day and the beautiful weather, Ella.

Sorry to have missed your condo yesterday! I can DEFINITELY empathize with having a case of fur shot fever this week! I know I had two... maybe three! Glad to see Rusty back to his usual good numbers. You're doing such a great job with him... fur shots or no!

Sweet dreams!
