Hello, Lantus Land..
and happy Halfway-thru sunday.
Action Jackson is busily working his cycle today...all 5 p's present...and a happy kitty bent on sniffing out adventure...
he very sweetly leveled out at +5 last night...and surfed the low blues in his sleep.
I did feed this morning's +2 10% fuds...
catch the wave, dude!!
And now, as promised...sharing yesterday's episode of "Who knew a tenant would actually DO that??"
Long story....but the outcome is worth the wait.
June-bob called me in the am...and said "Can you get over to the rental right away? they've got some sort of problem going on...
but i couldnt understand what it was...something or someone fell"
They call her rather than me, because since i moved here, i manage the properties for her...
and i am MUCH more firm with them than she is.
The tenant's husband has been after June to buy materials & let him "remodel and expand" the house to enclose the carport. She was considering it, even though he has NO construction experience.
I said "absolutely not" as the area will be zoned commercial in the next 2 yrs, his plans would never meet city code, and his "guess-timate" on cost was $10- 15 thousand.
Last week, I picked up drywall & supplies so I could repair 3 walls they have trashed...and he offered to help me so he could learn how to fix walls...
When I had to cancel yesterday...he decided to go ahead and take the damaged drywall down. and when he had done so...it occurred to him that if he
removed the studs and part of a joist...then when I arrived I would see the practicality of his remodeling suggestions.
Turns out he had never heard of or considered the importance of a "Load Bearing Wall"...(which this one was)..and he went after it with a chainsaw.
And I am not exaggerating when i tell you...2/3 of the back wall of the house collapsed and fell flat in the backyard
And I really don't have much to add to the story...
color me "staring silently in shocked disbelief"
I think they thought I was either drunk or crazy, because as we were putting up tarps around the "new open air addition"...
I was just shaking my head, laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation, and joking with them rather than yelling.
They are very aggressive about advertising that Idaho has one of the highest population growth rates in the nation...
but they conveniently neglect to tell you what calibre of people are moving here
