Punkin was in fine form this morning - purr purrr meow - through all the getting ready, then he managed to keep purring through eating his breakfast. i always wonder how he can do that. today is bath morning for the little guy - i hope i come through unscathed! the DH, punkin and I are going to be gone overnight tonight. gonna leave anya and jackson here & hope they behave themselves!

ohhh bath day - would I love to be a fly on the wall for this!!!! I have enough trouble just coming Boris! :o Altho I did just get some wonderful "detangler"! Hope you have a great getaway tonite!!!

My husband and I were just talking about how to handle a camping trip we have planned later this month....and decided to take Boo with us too! I hope that the 3 of you enjoy your getaway and I'm sure the others will hold down the fort!

patti posted some tips on how to go camping with your diabetic cat, jessica. not sure where it went but you could search for it, or just send a pm to patti (& merlin) to have her repost it.

well the bath was, uh, well, exactly like you'd imagine a bath for a cat to be. he spent the entire time trying to get out, but i did the deed. towel dried him as much as possible and then let him out of the bathroom. i decided the house was too cold to let him just dry, so pulled out my blow-dryer from college days, which i suppose i haven't used since then.

anyway, i parked him on my lap on the sofa and was blow-drying him. it went about like you'd imagine, he kept trying to get away from me. nothing quite like a wet, squirmy cat! i held him down and stayed at it, though. well near the end, he was sitting on the sofa beside me - sitting, not laying down - and i had the blow dryer aimed at his belly. i knew he'd forgiven me when he LIFTED HIS HIND LEG so i could dry him better! ohmygosh i nearly died! i was home alone or i would've been hollering to videotape it! he held it up for a while, then he lifted the other one.

i think i'll keep him!

the other funny thing: anya. she was scratching at the bathroom door while punkin was getting the bath and howling. she was pretty worried about him when he came out - kept following him and sniffing him. when i first sat down and had the blow dryer on, anya was behind the coffee table. her head slowly began to appear over the top of the table, ears down in the "don't see me" position. she lifted up her head til only her eyes were above, had them semi-squinted even, ears down, and watched him getting the abuse by blow dryer.

i think i'll keep her too.
 
Ohhh, too cute!! Does Punkin strut around when he's freshly clean? Weezer would have been too freaked at the hair dryer noise to realize how good it felt!
 
It sounds like all came through unscathed. I love the image of Punkin lifting his leg to get dried, Smart Kitty! Have a fun get away!
 
Wow! You, Julie, are a brave soul. I would never try to give either one of mine a bath. Once when they had dentals and were sedated I had the vet do it.

Enjoy your overnight trip!
 
The bit with the blowdryer is precious!!!! Glad you've got a clean kitty! Have a great night.
 
Willow empathizes with Punkin. He was not only tortured with a bath, but instead of the luxury of a blowdryer when he got out, he was greeted by the stinky puppy and her tongue. :)
 
OMG, cackling here. The only thing Willie fears more than the vacuum cleaner and the broom is the blow dryer!! Punkin is too much! I love Anya's concerns... what a sweet girl. If only you'd gotten video... I think you'd be taking the $10K on America's Funniest Home Videos!! :lol: :lol: :lol:
