Punkin's looking good. Nice to hear that he continues to make the sacrifice of cleaning Anya's plate so she can retain her membership in the CPC!!

Have fun quilting!!

Re: 10/13 punkin amps 277

Hi Julie and Punkin! I've been anxious to peek at your ss to see how things were going. So three weeks into the treatment and I read "1st SRT Treatment". I'm inferring that this means there will be more? I"m glad to see him in his normal range again, even if it meant a bit more insulin.

Funny story on the RV - we are the exact same way....always tents. We rented one last year at a music festival and had the same reaction. Our goal within the next year two is bow out for a few and explore this country of ours....so this is a "first step" in our plans.!

Punkin is always such a good boy, helping Anya out like that.

I hope you had fun quilting today!

Re: 10/13 punkin amps 277

I finally got a chance to look at the slide shows from two days ago. Really really interesting!!!! However, if I was that one lady with that huge cat, I would not be smiling.

What a star PUnkin is although I think it would be hard to see those photos during treatment....poor baby looks so uncomfy but I know he was anesthetized.

I am so glad he's doing well...his AMPS yesterday was great. You've done an awesome job, Julie.

Hope the quilting was fun today.

Hi Guys,
I also just got a chance to look at Punkin's treatment PDF files. What a lot of information, and what a good subject he is!! Punkin, you get the medal!

We hope you enjoyed your quilting today, Julie, and that all will continue to go so well with Punkin. What a handsome dude!

Re: 10/13 punkin amps 277

thanks for visiting everybody! nice day quilting and lots of treats. women = treats - hahahaha. i'm working on a wall quilt that's all stars. it goes light to dark stars - i was thinking of it as sunrise to sunset when i chose the colors. it's all hand-pieced so it's taking me forever.

yes, marjorie, i hadn't seen the pics of him anesthetized and on that treatment table until this week when they sent us the powerpoint. it was kinda icky, but compared to some things we have to go through to feel better, i guess this was tolerable.

i answered jessica in boo's condo, but in case anyone else is interested i thought i'd copy it here:

hi jessica, re your question about punkin's SRT - it was 3 treatments done 3 days in a row. that comment of mine was probably confusing - it's 3 weeks post the first day. i should probably just say 3 weeks now. i'll fix that.

he won't have any other treatments. this is complete. they told us to expect the first responses in about a month - that he would likely start needing dose reductions at that time. the way the SRT works is to prevent the tumor cells from replicating. each tumor cell that already exists will live out its life cycle. the radiation doesn't kill the existing cells, it keeps the tumor from growing.

i don't know why he had an immediate drop in his insulin need when the treatment happened. i think that was unusual. it's more common to not see an immediate response. we're trying to not be discouraged about having to go back up in dose. it was pretty encouraging to have him immediately start needing less insulin. gotta put on our patience pants!
