Zener had an exciting morning. Normally, he will eat a bit then likes to have a little picnic outside on the patio. Food always tastes better outdoors. This morning, I saw Tillie (the civie) give a second look and thought, "what is going on out there?" Zener was gobbling his food but he had grown a white stripe and a very bushy tail! Yikes! It was a skunk! I opened the door (2 feet from the skunk) and tossed out a lid from a can of cat food, enough noise to get the skunk's attention, and encouraged him to move along. Zener was calmly watching from the yard. With a little more encouragement (more noise), the skunk decided it was too much commotion and left (without spraying, thankfully). So Zener has decided to go to the party as a skunk. He thinks Binks will have some white makeup and all he has to do is paint on a stripe. So I said ok. :lol:

Zener was wise to calmly watch. A bit too much curiosity in this case may have resulted in a close encounter of the stinky kind!

glad that zener escaped the clutches and spray of the skunk! that would've been a "yikes" worthy event.

Oh my gosh! You are brave! I'd have been too panicked about getting sprayed to try to scare the skunk away. Smart Mr Zener to observe the action without participating! Happy halloween have a great night!

Oh I like the skunk visit but so surprised he didn't spray, but thank goodness. Maggie will be looking for Zener tonight dressed up as a skunk!

Hello all, and thanks for dropping by today and reading about skunkus amungus!

@Celi - the Pepe pic is perfect!

@Linda - Zener is very wise, and loves to watch the skunks. He charges and chases any other cats that come in his domain, but the skunks don't seem to bother him.

@julie - yikes moment is right! The beans are more yikesy than the kitties. Tillie, our civvie, wants to come to the Halloween party tonight. She is a yellow manx and would like to dress as punkin'. She finds punkin's tail beautiful and has a little bit of tail envy!

@Jaq - we are very grateful Zener is an observer when the skunks come to visit. He didn't even mind sharing his food!

@Ann - I'll tell Zener Maggie is on the lookout for him in his skunk suit. He will not misbehave like Pepe!

We've had a nice yellow cycle today, which is not bad for bounce behavior. We were grateful for these numbers today as our schedules are so crazy on Monday, we would have really panicked if he had been on the express train.

Thanks Roni, the green day was lovely. We are looking on the positive side of the bounce, this time it seems to be more in yellow than those other not so nice colors. @-)
We often have wild skunk visitors, and one evening last summer a mama tried to bring all 6 of her babies in our house through our open patio door, and those baby skunks were really cute. The kitties were no help.

I'll have to leave the telling of the skunk trapping stories to Liz in an off topic post. We have heaps of skunks here in Flagstaff and because we feed and water the birds, there are goodies in our yard that skunks love ...well, and there is the occasional dish of cat food, very popular! :shock:

I hope those kitties keep the music down a little at the party, the beans need their sleep! ;-) We hope everyone had a great Halloween and will be up early to clean up post party!
