Good Friday Morning, Everyone,

Rusty was eager to get us up this morning: long, long headbutt with steady pressure; golly he is strong! He was finally prevailed upon to wait for the alarm to go off. We had a good test, breakfast, shot and a bit of time outdoors in the cold, damp morning air. The squirrels were not happy to see Rusty! He didn't mind too much coming back inside, and we had a good game with MJ's butterfly wand (in and out of the cube; lots of pouncing and trapping). Now he's chillaxing on his perch by the radiator, getting ready for Smokey's OTJ party this evening. He weighed in this morning at 16 lbs., 10 oz. (so has gained back the few ounces he lost!)

Wishing you all a fine Friday and continuing to send healing thoughts and vines to all kitties and beans in need of them,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 12/2 Rusty AMPS 125

How sweet that Rusty was rarin and ready for the day to begin.

Has Rusty ever caught a squirrel? I think that's one of the few smaller animals that Leo hasn't caught yet.

Very nice AMPS for Rusty this morning. :-D

Hi Ella, so cute with the headbutts. Maggie gives headbutts to my arm when I'm drinking coffee signaling she wants scritches. It's nice Rusty is so playful with the butterfly wand and now chillaxin. Nice AMPS to start the day, too. Have a nice Friday.

Re: 12/2 Rusty AMPS 125, +5 175, +9 209

Hi again,
Lots of chores to do today and it has been snowing all day and beginning to accumulate. I am making authentic Roman minestrone from Marcella Hazan's "Classic Italian Cooking". It's a delicious soup, but needs a long time to cook once you get all the veggies into the pot. We'll be able to get 3 meals out of it, so it's worth the effort!

It looks like this morning's shot might have been a fur shot, although neither Edward nor I smelled Levemir. Perhaps these rising numbers are still part of the accelerating bounce from the visit to the vet on Wednesday. Or perhaps Rusty is not holding his reduction (or I am not measuring the 1.75 correctly). I may take him back up to a skinny 2.0 this evening or tomorrow morning.

Rusty has been napping all afternoon. No squirrels or birds are out in this weather (very wet snow; the temperature is just at 32 degrees). Tracy: Rusty has never caught a squirrel. We intervene and don't let him get close to them. They have sharp teeth and we don't want him to lose an ear! He almost caught a chipmunk several months ago (they are hibernating now) and he has no interest in the birds. He does have interest in the deer(!), and this morning 9 deer were in our back woods. They know enough to stay in the village during deer-hunting season (it ends here on Sunday, earlier than the rest of the state because of harsh winter conditions for the deer).

Ella-

I just stumbled onto your "Remembering Stu" condos....
unbelievably touching...
Stu was the first sugarcat to blaze his way into my heart.

Rusty- hope you don't mind, but raising a glass in tardy tribute to the elegant fellow who paved the way for you...

Re: 12/2 Rusty AMPS 125, +5 175, +9 209, PMPS 230

wow - what a great post by Celi - I so so agree.

Sorry to be so late ion visiting... been a rather hectic day.

I can smell that minestrone cooking - i bet it is permeating the house. what a great aroma. and a perfect dish for a snowy day. Enjoy!!

Well bummer if it was a fur shot... maybe so: looks like Rusty had been on a slow rise all day. or maybe he just wants to hang out with Nannie before they head off to their chef duties for Smokey's party. They almost have the same pmps.

Re: 12/2 Rusty PMPS 230, dosecrease

Whether or not it was a fur shot, I decided to take Rusty back to the skinny 2.0 units. I am not happy with his numbers on 1.75 units (although my measuring may be at fault--for some reason this dose is really difficult for me). I don't want him to lose the great momentum he has had recently. So, back up a notch we went.

Now Rusty is off to Smokey's OTJ party.

Everyone enjoy the evening, and don't wait up for you kitties to get home!!

Re: 12/2 Rusty PMPS 230 dosecrease

Good evening! I am late getting around. Sorry about the numbers but hope the extra juice helps. A cold wet snow is a good time for minestrone. It sounds wonderful! Hope you have a great evening Ella!!

Hey Rusty! I don't know how to cook but thought I could start by watching you guys. I'm ready to sweep, clean, stir, chop, or whatever you need. See you soon. It will be a great party! - Tarragon!
