Good afternoon,

Mookie is feeling well today; I'm the one who's lethargic, hence my late post. I went to bed early last night and asked D to take Mookie's +4. It was 73 and D didn't know to retest, so I'm not sure if it's accurate. This morning Mookie's +4.5 was 80 and the retest was 234, so I'm losing confidence in this meter (ReliOn). I have a backup, but the test numbers are so different from the ReliOn that I haven't been using it.

We received at least 12" of snow last night and this morning, and fortunately D feels energetic and is enthusiastic about shoveling. I lamely offered to help, but he knows I'm tired and said he'd take care of it. Sweet man.

We wish everyone a peaceful day.

Well i'm sorry to hear about your meter issues, from what i've heard on here people who use the relion seem to be happy with it. The 2nd test looks about right, Mookie is in blues at least. Hopefully Mookie will keep on comin down for you! :-D

Holy crap on the snow :o !!!!

I'll refrain from commenting on the meter issue, except grr_red

So it looks like Mookie is coming down, if he was up. Again grr_red

That's a pile of snow!

Hi, Tracy! Thanks for your comments. The snow is beautiful and very light--perfect for skiing.

Hi, Ms. Linda! You are funny. Thanks for making me laugh.

So should we send you a membership to Glucometer Addicts' Anonmyous so you can join the throngs of us who have multiple meters?

I'm so sorry for the frustrations on that but Mookie is looking very good today!!! Love the blue.

Brrrrrr......all that snow...just talk of it makes me freeze.

Re: 12/22 Mookie ...+6.5 198, +8 192, PMPS 380

 i must need to go to remedial meters anonymous! i only have 1! i may get kicked out of lantus land for that boo boo!

i confess that i almost never retest a number. the strips are too expensive and i'm afraid the whole doubting numbers thing would make me insane. i did retest last week when i got a LO (below 20) and the retest was 200ish - far more believable.

someone said a while ago that you have to wait a few minutes in between if you're retesting with the same meter.

i think that 380 is another bounce. the exciting thing is that mookie seems to be clearing the bounces very quickly. that's a super good thing because his body will get used to the lower numbers and the bouncing will resolve more quickly (they already are pretty fast), the high number of the bounce will be lower, and eventually the whole thing will stop. then you're going to be seeing some pretty numbers.

You and I are in the same boat, Julie  ! Actually, after I woke up to a broken meter last spring, I do have a back-up meter just in case...but so far I have never used it, never compare, and rarely do a follow-up test. I figure that as long as the numbers are consistent on one meter, I'll just follow that path.

I use a Relion Confirm, and it has been consistent for me. I wonder what happened with your +4.5....I'm sure sometimes you can get a faulty strip, or not enough blood, or just general unknown craziness.

Hopefully Mookie will clear tonights bounce quickly, but safely.

Snow...IMO, the worst four letter word out there!!! Likewise, I don't shovel...just like DH doesn't clean bathrooms. Or do laundry. Or food shop. Etc. Etc. Etc. I think it's a fair trade off  !

Have a great one!

Amy

Re: 12/22 Mookie PMPS 380, +2 384

It's my newbie neurosis that made multiple tests necessary. When I realized how quickly I've gone through the strips I slowed it way down. Geez they're expensive. I didn't know to wait between tests; I'll try that next time.

Thanks for the explanation (again) about Mookie's numbers, Julie. I'm starting to comprehend what the numbers represent and how that information is useful. I'm not certain a 12-hour shot schedule makes sense to me when I can see from the numbers how his body is using insulin and food (or not). It seems as though micro-dosing would be more effective -- but maybe not with Lantus. There is probably info on other methodologies in the archives, which at some point I'd like to dig through.

You'd like this snow, Amy. It's pretty, and it's light and fluffy. The cats love playing in it -- I throw snowballs for them to chase.

Hope you're having a good night.

Drat! All the snow is missing us. I'd gladly shovel 12".  ok, Mookie, how about shoveling on down to a lower floor? That would make your beans real happy.
