Yesterday's Condo

Ugh!!!! Right back up to that darn pink floor again today!

Attie actually had the friskies this morning for a whole 3 minutes. He was quite excited to find a new mouse in his bed.

Thank you to all who responded in yesterday's condo.

Jill, I'll be following your link to see if it is something to consider for Attie. I hope you find time to review the article I shared. I need to really print it out and thoroughly read it myself as one of the conclusions from the noted chronic disease processes of the pancreas is indeed feline diabetes.

Julie, thank you for sharing your own personal story and research regarding the connections between diabetes and viruses in humans too. I tend to agree that we should be able to make some sort of extrapolation for some of our cats.

It also indicates that while diet is beneficial in helping control diabetes, it may not be the only causative agent and may explain why some cats don't go into remission. Atlas's constantly fluxuating numbers may not have anything to do with his healing pancreas...they may be indicative of underlying herpes outbreaks in the pancreas and why we'll go from 0.5u up to 3.0u every few months.

Of course all this discussion is really anecdotal or theorhetical until more research is done and that will likely be decades away if it is ever even done.

Re: 1/9 Atlas AMPS 351

Morning Beth,

I just took a look at Attie's condo from yesterday. This is very interesting. I hope Attie can fight whatever underlying virus might be casing his current problem with being unregulated. Prayers for the two of you.

Jill, I sort of giggled at that link you gave me....

Did you realize the name of the company?

Re: 1/9 Atlas AMPS 351

Hi Beth,

A friend of mine read a journal article about Lysine and it recommends 1000mg a day for a flare up - Two 500mg bolus doses. No longer the 500mg a day. I let Susan and Lanky know about this when they were making repeated trips to the ER and it helped Lanky immensely. I hope you up it and give it a try also. I don't have a link but will try and find something that is allowed to be shared for you.

Hugs.
